    1975 4.2 oil pan

Hi, newbie first question of maybe many!
taken over a project where the oil pan/sump is hitting the steering rack. Anyone know the safe measurements to cut and raise the sump bottom to the max for the front 10 inches or so.
    Cheers,
    Dave

I think I would discover WHY the sump is hitting the steering rack before resorting to major surgery.

Failed / rotten engine mounts? The sump wasn't hitting the steering rack when the car was new (I think).

Project is not a standard jag. Homemade replica that was fitted with ford v8 set right back into the bulkhead.
trying to bring the jag engine forward a little.
