    Angry Coolant wont drain completely

G'day all. I'm working on a 2003 XJ8 and I can't seem to get the coolant to completely drain from the system. I only ever get about 4 or 5 quarts. I've done it 5 times. I tried to run the car until the engine was warm but I chickened out worried about damaging the motor. What can I do? I've looked around for the past 2 days and can't find an answer. Is there a drain plug on the motor? Ugh.

jags normally have a drain plug at the bottom of the rad. at the front.

the diesels do have bolts in the side of the block to drain coolant. Don't know if petrols have this

Jag over estimated the coolant quantity on mine significantly!

Just flush with water until it runs clear then refill with coolant

It amazes me that the central issue that I am having, the inability to COMPLETELY drain the coolant is ignored in this forum. I've read multiple posts in the past few days with the same inane responses. If you don't know how to drain the coolant completely, why respond? Of course I can cycle through multiple fill/drain instances but the central issue is unresolved. Pray tell me, how am I supposed to reach the correct coolant to distilled water ratio using the drain a gallon, replace a gallon method?

I did have the water at damn near 100% before I dumped an entire gallon of the undiluted coolant in. I only had to purge a gallon of the new mix to get it at -5. It is a stupid method though. I wonder if it was a Jaguar engineer or an idiot from Ford that came up with the hoses being equal height on the radiator and the engine. Absolutely brainless design it is.

All engines retain coolant in the block when draining

I put the coolant in first, and then when I top up with water I can’t get enough in.

Maybe premixed is the way with jags !

Eh, I'd rather drive my 97 XK8. Same retard setup in the coolant area tho. So I'll have to go through the same rigmarole later on that beastie.

Well as you will have recorded the quantity of liquid that went in this one , you should get it about right next time.
