    Telephone

I have a 2007 XK. When I get a phone call, I can hear the caller, but the caller cannot hear me. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum!

Thread moved to XK x150 section.

What type of microphone do you have? Early ones were inside the a pillar and were quite poor, later models had them visible outside.

I didn't know I had a microphone. Voice comes through the radio.

So it seems you have an early one with the microphone hidden inside of the A pillar. If just the mic that's gone bad then an easy fix by removing the existing one and installing an external.

But it may be easier to run a completely new mic lead from the head unit. If you don't feel confident a decent auto-electrician should be able to fit in under an hour.

The microphone on early cars is hidden in the driver's a-pillar trim, just use a trim removal tool and get the a-pillar trim removed. The microphone is clipped in behind it, the later one requires a cut to be made, the wiring pushed through and screwed into the trim on the outside, much more reliable unit.

I've had two answers and both referred to the A pillar. I have no idea what or where that is. It seems like it is a European term and I'm in the U.S. Is it by the side of the windshield? Or should I say windscreen?

Nope it's a universal term even stateside

This may help (it's an American site & took me 5 seconds on google):

    https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/...is-an-a-pillar

So it's the internal trim piece.

    Good luck

It’s a worldwide used term, I can’t really help much further than what I’ve said. Remove trim, change the microphone and you’ll be heard again.

I’m also well aware that Houston is in USA.
