Opus Ignition System as used on XJ 12 and Aston Martins of the era

Re the Opus Ignition System used on my Aston Martin V8 type cars:
    1973 series 3, 1982 OI Vantage and 1980 Lagonda.
The 1973 suffers from an intermittent problem when travelling slowly in traffic, on a round-about, etc where the motor slows, starts to diesel, then dies.

Normally starts again. Most often occurs on a hot day.

I am suspicious of the three wire lead from the Amplifier to the Distributor which has a three pin connector along its length. I have cleaned that and sprayed with Contact Cleaner. The later cars don’t use that connector.

The other two cars use a continuous three core cable.

Was there a known fault with the early XJ 12’s of that era which share the same system. The 1980 -> seem perfect.

    Thank you for any assistance.

Auto electrician called it OP(L)US (aka Hopeless) ! Changes were made, but the later system was better. Have a read here: -
