    Audio amplifier

    Hi
I have a problem with my audio amplifier, I have bought another second hand one but still no good. I have power going to the connector ( two green and brown and one orange and white cables) but the fan won't run or the CD auto player will not work.
    Am I missing some thing!!
This amplifier is the alpine system.
    Please can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Hi
To check out my two amplifiers is anyone willing to check them by connecting them to their car?
I am in wisbech which is close to Peterborough.
This will only take tens minutes to do.
    Many thanks
    Andy

You could use the electrical guide and test the plug for the amp to make sure you have voltage and ground.
Don't forget the fibre optical network needs to be complete, if another device is unplugged you will get issues like you have.
If you have IDS/SDD you can see the amp and any trouble codes too.

Also, note for other members: Isn't there a way to get a list of what is available on the d2b network? Is it in the secret menu? This might help the OP in diagnostics.

I have voltage going to the amp and good grounds, if the optics have disconnected surely the amp fan would still work and the CD auto changer would switch on??

    Hmm, you might be right.

Does the autochanger have power to eject the cassette?

No, no power, and you cannot call up the CD on the head unit at the front and I know there is CD's in the unit

Do you have power going into the cd changer?
If so you could try bypassing it in the fibre optic loop.
Remember you need a complete circuit, you may have to unplug 2 devices to make a complete circuit depending on the splitter cables used.
Make a note of the order the fibre circuit is in.
Either the CD changer or the amp may come to life when the other is out of the loop.

Sorry mrkis, but if I have power and good earths to the amp and if I remember rightly the amp turns on the CD auto changer. I can understand if the radio, sat nav and CD are working but have no sound then I would go check the optics.
    Would this make sense?
Also how do I get to the electrical guide

Sorry, I don't have any specific knowledge of anything in the D2B loop that would cause the issue your having. Everything you say points to 2 faulty amps. However, as removing the CDA or Amp from the optical network should only take a minute or two, I'd check this just in case. I do know that a faulty item on this network, can cause odd behaviour. Members have seen things like, the voice module not working because of the CD changer, while everything else works. Admittedly the effects may be limited to the sound rather than the power.

As for the CD Changer power, double check in the Electrical guide. As far as I can remember the CD Changer has power to eject, even when the car is off and locked (boot up). I doubt the amp is powered up in this scenario.

    Electrical guide.
There's loads of links in google.
