    MoT Disaster

    Hi all,

Well, first the positive - no Advisories!

Now the bad. I knew there was a hole in the sills on both sides about 6cm long. When the infamous MoT hammer had a better look at it, it turns out that I need to get some of the floorplan welded on both sides and also sills. Oh, and a ball joint dust cover - but that's minor...

I estimate 600-800 for this - maybe more. Waiting for an estimate once the bodywork guy has had a better look.

    Grim day...

    Regards

Sills were done 5 years ago but only the front ends - backs have gone now...

The floorplan is the worrying one - seats out etc they said. Kerching kerching.

Still, get to drive the Mustang again almost full time for a couple of weeks. What's that about Clouds and silver Linings???

Sorry to hear that. That is one of the reasons I learnt to weld.
    Kind regards

Certainly a bad news day, hope the estimate is not too depressing. I had a 3.0 X and the transfer box failed at 100,000 miles, 1800 bill. Close to the value of the car but the rest of it was too good to scrap it. Had it done thinking I would keep it a while but ended up trading it for an S Type a year later. Got less than a grand for it, finacially painful but the car lived on.

Sad times. glad to hear you are getting it fixed though. Too many hit the scrapheap at the mention of sills and welding.

Agreed, especially as apart from a dust cover the rest is all good.

Anyhoos, I've got to get to 500,000 miles...

Too right, an Xtype is for life not just the first 100K

Or the first 400k in my case...

Interesting development - the bodyshop I normally use don't want to do it so it's going elsewhere to be quoted. I know not why, they just aren't interested.

Odd but we shall see what they have to say...
