XJ8 What is this one worth and are there any concerns?

Ive had a chat with the owner of this vehicle (since sold today but it may not go through)

    2002 Jaguar XJ8 Sovereign 4.0 LWB FSH Replacement steel-lined engine | eBay

If you click on the main pic you should get the auction and all such details.

    ---

I'm not a fan of black but with Children to occasionally sit in the back it's probably not a bad thing.

Questions are: At £3250 is that a reasonable price?

Owner says exceptional condition but the carpets and leather don't look exceptional but a valet would soon sort that

A replacement engine has been put in but what I noticed on the description of the replacement that it wasn't actually
a new engine put in but one with miles on it already (or that is how I read it)

The owners description looks fair enough but is there anything to worry about in there? Is the trim level described
the one that comes with that year/sovereign?

The car hadn't sold when I initially went to post this, it has since sold but I was considering emailing the seller with
a view to a second chance if the buyer bombs out.

Any thoughts on value or in general or anything you picked in in the description would be much appreciated.

    Sounds like a good spec/options.

The chrome dials look a bit dodgy though!

Not sure why the engine needed to be replaced, and are never replaced with brand new engines.

Hi Andy, thanks for the reply. I'm not a fan of those dials either.

What you mean re the engines? As in when replaced by Jag/Whomever?

I always thought the engines were bulletproof but I guess it's not always the case,.

Is the spec quoted as it should be?

Well a 2002 should have had a steel-lined engine anyway, so that excuse or broken tensioners can't be used. Anyway if its been replaced a while ago, I shouldn't worry about it.

Spec appears ok. No reason to doubt its a sovereign if that's what you mean.

Sat nav and premium are factory options fitted to it.

They stopped building the 4.0 engine in 2002 so I'd have thought any replacement would be a reconditioned unit.
