Things you did not know you did not know ...............3

    One for the sound system.

AVC which stands for Automatic Volume Control.........

Switch on your headunit in the usual way but when you push the button in hold it there for 8 seconds and AVC should appear. So what is it? As you drive faster etc the car gets louder. So the AVC adjusts the volume to compensate. If I remember right you have 5 levels of volume automatic adjustment to choose from. Did you know that?

    How time flys........

The whole original idea of this topic was to remind me of the work done on the car over the years. Whilst browsing this topic looking for some information for someone I stumbled across a video I did of the work done in the first year. 50% of which I had totally forgotten. It almost as if someone else had done the work. The one that brought the biggest smile to my face was right at the end of the video where I did a before/after bit. How did I forget how bad it was when I first got the car? Though at the time I did not have the knowledge that I now enjoy to use as a comparison. Anyway enough prattling. I am re-upping (if that's the right word) the first video again. Enjoy!

    Oh what a loaded question!

Initially not much. Repair up keep etc cost me so far six times the price of the car. I can justify it, if I need too, in that I do not smoke, drink little, no longer go on long holidays etc. Its a bit like saying how much are your kids costing you? How can you put a value on it? The money is well spent Id rather see it on the road than sitting in a bank. Anyone who knows me will tell you money is not my focus in life. I find easier to spend money on others rather than myself. Always managed to get good value and I am extremely good at saving. Plus the fact I am a VERY lucky person. So I see no point in giving out numbers. Spending is purely personal and very subjective.

As I said I am lucky. Have a very modest home in a most beautiful part of the country. Retired at 45. Enough money in the bank so I do not have to worry about that. At one point had interests in around 8 racehorses and now I am down to one very good race horse. A Jag I am very happy with. Plenty of friends. What more could a man ask for?

Well if it cost you 6x "£N,000" then you've not given N still.

What is it with Brits being afraid to say "it cost me £17,000"?

I've paid up to £6,000 for each of my cars but I paid CY£17,000, about £21,000, in 2003 for my 1999 Prado. It's still in great demand and may be worth around €8,000.

I haven't got umpteen hundred thousand pounds in the bank but I won't tell you that, we own 3 houses but we're not liquid in funds, I was hoping to work until retirement age but immature irresponsible unaccountable"management" jerks wouldn't give me a job since 2008 when I turned 54 because my hair is white, so that tells you my age.

So - what do you make of that, Frank? Am I too revealing, does it give you any leverage that I don't know about?

    Guessing "no", then...

What's your problem, insecurity, or fears I'll come round with my begging hat??

Have you watched the two My Big Fat Greek Wedding movies yet? What did you think, they are exactly how Griks talk and behave, especially the first one. We had a similar get together with another bunch last night. Laugh? There were tears of laughter on wifey's cheeks. One of them wanted an all-meat birthday cake! Seriously.

So what did your car cost to buy?

From my experience, Cypriots are always open with figures, but they are usually made up ones!!!
Brits are less open, always have been, always will.
