Just adds to the ambiance shipmate.

    Plus,

This year and I'll finally get round to making my own lambswool mats.

That will be rather plush. You’ll be driving around in your slippers.

Possibly, but I thought I'd ask you for your cobblers details to have a pair of cream loafers made with black tassels.

Perhaps I ought to visit my tailors and have a black waistcoat made afterall.

They would certainly match the interior.

Caldoofy & The Fuel Statistics & True Costs of Ownership @ 25000 miles

    Afternoon All,

A week late by my initial calculations, but today I passed another milestone as I took the V8 for a long test drive.

Purpose of which was to gauge the difference after yesterdays fitting of a Caldoofy Air Intake Pipe.

Super V8's, XJR's and STR's are not short of get up and go, you're at licence losing speeds in the blink of an eye, but.....

I've no way of proving whether it's the smoother air flow the Caldoofy provides, the thorough clean of the MAF sensor, or both, but the Super accelerates like a stabbed rat.

After nearly 4 years of ownership, my throttle foot has its own built in memory, imagine my surprise that it was instigating wheelspin. Add to this, it appears my loud exhaust note as changed slightly, for the better
and the superchargers whine, always intoxicating, is now more so. 40+ miles of early morning hooliganism and wafting

So on to the Statistics at 25000 miles covered by me,

    45 months/1351st day of ownership.

25000 Miles covered at an average of 23.16mpg and 18.6 miles per day,

The current average costs are £1.124 per litre, 22.1p per mile and £4.14 a day.

I'm currently paying £1.137 a litre for decent fuel from the Texaco garage it's always been filled at

Based on 25k miles and 1351 days owned, I have spent a total of £12127.02 on fuel, repairs and maintenance (Insurance, VED and Beauty products not included)

    Total Cost Per Mile £0.48, £8.98 a Day or £272.28 a Month was £322.14 at 20k in January 18
    Fuel Cost Per Mile £0.22, £4.12 a Day or £124.93 a Month was £142.21
    R&M Cost Per Mile £0.26, £4.86 a Day or £147.36 a Month was £179.93

These are not inconsiderable sums of money, BUT..... what else does forking out £272.28 a month, get you to buy, maintain, fuel, fully own and enjoy?

Pleased with yesterdays fettling and this mornings drive out, what else could I do but give it a clean, here it is, back on the CTEK for another week.

    Thanks as always for reading,

    Rich

Glad to hear you are enjoying the first modification, and those statistics are very interesting. The Super V8 offers terrific value!!!

Looking forward to those 'Handmade' lambswool mats. I bought my own sheepskins for a previous Mercedes and was never quite happy with them, I'm interested to hear what you are doing. I say that as a Daimler Super V8 owner who has been looking for a set of mats since November....! I found an owner who was selling their car as 'spares or repair' last week, but they would not part with those mats, and sold the whole car for £600... I was gutted!

You should have bought it and discarded the car.

I probably could have bought the car, took the mats, and broken up the car selling the wheels, trim etc. I probably would have ended up with more than the £600 after selling everything.

I've not got the time for that sort of thing right now though... little Aston is very demanding!!

(and £600 for a set of mats is a bit steep for me...)
