2.2 Diesel - EGR Sensor fault.

Hi

Could somebody advise me please.

I have X type 2.2 diesel. On long motorway run on Monday I started getting slight stammer / hesitation when feathering the accelerater at about 50 through 70 mph. The next day this had passed but I now gained an engine check light. This morning the car sputtered and coughed and had to be restarted 3 times but then ran fine on the 15 mile journey to work. When I left work earlier it started with same coughing and produced fair amount of grey smoke. I idled for few moments then took it slow and within five minutes of engine warming up it behaved normally.

I have just bought an RAC Code Reader and have one fault - P0405 which apparently is 'EGR Flow Sensor A circuit low input'. I don't have a clue what this means! Can anyone help?

Thanks for your time.

sounds like your egr valve is stuck open .. do a search for egr valve .. should give you some links on how to clean/replace .. takes about an hour to clean .. depending on the crud build up .. and fairly easy to take out

Thanks a lot - will search now.
