2003 x awd blower and a/c system

894 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  apostoln
The A/C system switch on the panel when pushed lights up red as on but the blower doesn't come on and the compressor is not engaging either. I changed the fan module behind the glove compartment but no change. Any ideas? would there be a code generated for the error? could it be a fuse or relay? (I thought about this but if it were a fuse for the a/c system, why would the switch ON light come on?) The blower doesn't work for heater or ventilator either.

You need to know how much gas is in the system (weigh it out) you need to check the pressure switch on the inner wing. Swap the relay over and also check the clutch is actually still there. Mine was loose and hanging off.

All the above are common problems with x type ac.

Don't just guess and buy an halfords can of R134a you need to charge by weight.
I think we need more specific information. First, is this a manual climate control - two rotary switches - or a fully automatic, all controlled with pushbuttons.

Then what was this fan module you replaced? There's nothing normally known by that name as far as I know.

There is a relay for the blower (same one for manual or automatic) almost in the centre of the glove box fuse panel, Position R20, and another relay for the A/C clutch in the engine compartment fuse box, Position R6.

Relevant fuses are F6, 30A, F36, 10A and F23, 10A in the Eng Fuse Box and F80, 7.5A in the Glovebox Fuse Panel.

Fully automatic

The blower assembly is what i was referring to.

There is a relay for the blower (same one for manual or automatic) almost in the centre of the glove box fuse panel, position r20, and another relay for the a/c clutch in the engine compartment fuse box, position r6.

I checked them but they were properly connected and clean didnt appear burned out. Could they both be bad suddenly? If only one was bad would both the blower and the clutch be inoperative?

Relevant fuses are f6, 30a, f36, 10a and f23, 10a in the eng fuse box and f80, 7.5a in the glovebox fuse panel.

all fuses appeared good but i will recheck these specific ones.
