2007 SE. Wood trim miss - match ?

1763 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Beamender
On my 2007 SE, the wood trim on the doors, dash and steering wheel all match.
The wood trim around the auto selector and the ash tray are a different grain and colour, almost a ginger colour.
The gear selector knob has no grain on it and is a light brown colour.
I have obtained the original delivery spec from a main dealer and it says I have Bronze Sapelle Pommelle Veneer.
It does sound very grand with prices to match.

Can someone confirm, as I suspect the wrong parts have been installed ( for what ever reason).
The history, condition and very low mileage of the car all support it has not been messed with.

The present situation irritates me and I want it to look "right"
I enquired re the two small panels and the parts cost £265.
I did not note what the part numbers were as I was a little surprised at the cost. ( I am new to the Jaguar world)
Can anyone supply the numbers?

Can I assume the gear selector knob also needs replacing to match the veneer? I have no idea what that will cost.

Obviously I would like to sort things out with the minimum spend so is it lightly I could get these parts from a breakers?
Are they too new or not very common? Would the whole trim set be offered rather than parts of it?
I have not used high end breakers before. I am from the climb up four cars and get it yourself era.( before Elf n Safety)

What ever the outcome is it easy to change the two panels.

I have a feeling that I may well have to pay the full price.

What makes you say it's an SE? The reason I ask is that only the Sovereign trim level has wood on the steering wheel, so either it's been specified incorrectly on the V5 (more common that you might think), or the interior has been "upgraded" after purchase, which might explain the mis-match. Do the seats have piping on them? Do you have front and rear tread chrome tread plates on the sills?
I think you could spec the wood trimmed steering wheel on the SE if you wanted.
I stand corrected. So you could (for the Sapelle colour). I was thinking of walnut, which was Sovereign only.
What makes you say it's an SE?
V5C says SE as does all the other dealer paperwork. I feel sure it is correctly an SE 2.5
The "Vehicle details" sheets only say .....JT2 Saloon 2007 MY, Classic Lthr High ( UK) with no mention of SE.
I have read all the threads about SE/Sovereign confusion. I have absolutely no reason to think it is a Sovereign

It has lots of extras from new. I am unsure of the basic spec for an SE but mine seems to have lots of " features ".
(It does NOT have Xenons, DSC, Sun roof, split rear seat, memory seats or auto changer)
One of the items on the "Vehicles details" sheets from a main dealer lists "*Wood/leather Strg Wheel" which I think explains one of the extras.
I think all the items with an * on the sheets indicated an extra ? Under Trim details - * Bronze Sapele Pommelle Veneer.
(There are nine * items in total)
The only one that I have not decoded is *ZXLJ - EOC Pack code Indicator.

Do the seats have piping on them? Do you have front and rear tread chrome tread plates on the sills?
No piping and only front tread plates.
I do plan to get the rear tread plates @£100+

I will try to take some decent photos and then try to load them.

Thanks for the other responses.
I was slow typing and did nor review before posting.
