Hi - I had a prospective 2009 XKR convertible with 63k miles inspected by the local Jag dealer and they reported a few things I was hoping you all could help me with. Thanks a lot for any feedback/assistance.

1) They said "Noticed slight tinny noise/vibration in driver's side dash area under acceleration" - has anyone experienced this or heard of this, and if so have an idea if this is indicative of a known issue? (For context, they also reported "Vehicle drives straight, no vibrations present in drivetrain or in steering wheel")

2) They said "Rear window has been glued in using urethane - recommend convertible top replacement" although they also indicate "Top is in otherwise good condition and actuates up and down correctly". According to the woman I spoke to, the glue job looks bad - waiting for add'l photos to view. Anyone replaced the convertible top and know how much this costs? Or, do you think I can have the window removed, the glue removed, and then the window reinserted properly without a bad glue patch job?Any advice/alternatives/solutions here would help...

3) They said "Coolant manifold and thermostat assembly has been replaced" - glad to have some new parts here, but does this indicate the car was misused or had some unusual or extraordinary problems to cause this to be replaced? Or, is this something that is know to require replacement at some point in a normal car's lifetime?

Hi Digband

on 1:

I have read of an rattling issue fr9m behind the dash and it turned out to be the trim. Fixed after a bit of investigating b6 a bit of packing and removal of trim.
I believe there is also a small fan that sits in there as well which could be noisy.

2:

The rear window glass needing re gluing seems to be fairly common issue in hotter climes.
On a US Jag forum I use they often discuss needing their rear window glass gluing.
They quote the manual for repairs up to a certain length being repairable, around 6 inches I believe.

not sure about total removal though. A specialist would Need to have a look .

I think you can get a new roof fitted for around £1200 at a convertible roof specialists. Jag I think are around £4K.

3. From a certain time the XK has a plastic stat housing that can crack over time. So a change is not that uncommon.
even on the earlier metal housing models you can get a kit when changing the stat that includes a new housing as well.

Good Luck
