Hi , taxed car yesderday and took mum out in the xjs for motherds day test drive. I drove the car of speeds up to about 55 mph and slower speeds of 30 , 40 and less while in traffic. The fans were adjusted and wired for half speed on when the ac compressor is on and full speed at N on the gauge and half speed when pointer to the left of the N . The temp guage was reading to the left of the N to center of the N most of the time with aircon on all the time. When i put my food down up hill the guage reads to the right side of the N and and does not go any higher . So most of the time the temp is middle of the N or less when at 50 mph on a flat road so looks ok so far . On cold start the temp of the top hoses are not what i would expect as when looking at engine from drivers seat the right hand stat / top hose heats up well before the left hand top hose starts to get warm. I would said this was wrong and think i should also replace the stats and wonder if and better quality stats are available like stainless etc but is so are they the same spec ? Car is a 6.0l so think both stats should be 88deg .

So what do you think as the left stat does open ok later so not sure if its faulty or normal ? Do these engine temps increase slightly to the right of N when driven harder ? ps next job is to sort thr squeak from the gear box mounting as apart from that its great

I would Re bleed the System as I think you mite have an air lock
I usually take the vac pipe off the heater valve and hold it open with the car slightly up hill and then let her come up to temp with the fans off
If you decide to change the stats go for 92 instead of 88 she will be a lot happier
You can do this with the electric fans and achieve better engine response and economy
