What compressor, if its the G.M. One and the wire is green it probably goes to the thermal fuse which is bolted to the front of the compressor
Air Conditioning Lead Wires on 1990 XJS V12
We seem to have all of the little bugs worked out of our new 1990 XJS V-12 except for one. The plug that connects to the AC compressor has two wires, one just loops back and connects to ground at the back of the AC compressor, the other one on our car leads off for maybe 6 inches or so and then just ends. It's broken or pulled loose from somewhere but we can't figure out where. Diagrams make it look like it might go to a AC system pressure switch of some sort but we can't find that either.
Anyone know where this wire is routed from?

Where does the wire come to the other side of the thermal fuse from?
Ie. Where is the source of power come from before it gets to the compressor?
That wire goes to the Compressor relay next to the starter relay.

Straight to it? The wiring diagrams indicate that it goes through some kind of a pressure switch along the way.That wire goes to the Compressor relay next to the starter relay.

The wire goes from the pressure switch to the relay. If when you make the lead live the compressor kicks in then the sensor must be ok and its the relay that is not connected.
The pressure switch in the diagrams picture shows it to be at the rear of the compressor.

How does making the compressor kick in by running a wire straight from a battery jumper to the wire on the compressor show that the sensor is ok? IF the wire on the compressor should go through the sensor. I'm not saying the compressor kicks in when we touch that wire together, the wire is broken and doesn't go anywhere right now. I was saying we tested the compressor by running 12v direct to it. Just wanted to make sure you understood what I was saying.The wire goes from the pressure switch to the relay. And we have not found the pressure switch yet, but it doesn't seem to be at the rear of the compressor.
Sorry but in your third post you said that you supplied a live to that wire and the compressor kicked in.
From the diagrams I think you will find that the Pressure switch IS the Compressor Clutch connector so it gets its feed from the clutch relay. Have you found the relay and connected a lead from pin 30 to that short wire to see what happens.

It may be in the compressor, never seen one like that but it could be. The FSM wiring diagrams just shows that there is a pressure sensor in line but doesn't indicate how far/short away it is nor where it's mounted, only that it's in the circuit.
I am looking at the wiring diagram from http://www.jagrepair.com/JaguarXJSElectricalOBDIIcodes.htm and on Fig 26.1 and 27.1 you will see the Pressure switch and to the right you will see it says COMP CLUTCH. The drawings on the page between the two show the switch So my way of thinking is that the pressure switch is the wires from the compressor that you are talking about. The wire colour is shown as Green/White so in your case the Green/brown could just be a faded colour.
As I said, have you found the relay and linked a wire to the short wire from the compressor to see if it then operates.
