Ok, cheers Ben. Will check it out. Have also checked the download site and yup, V3.2 is gone!!!!
Don't forget you can upgrade 'in-place' just using the upgrade function in the Odroid Utility app. You then just need to reapply the settings in build.prop for DPI and Bluetooth Sink.

Ben

BTW .. what's the best way to enable BT streaming now?

Oh, didn't know that ... I thought you had to do a fresh install!

What's the procedure for doing the "in-place" upgrade?

From a terminal do:

su
mount -o remount,rw /
nano /build.prop

Then find 'persist.service.bt.a2dp.sink' and set to true. You also adjust the DPI settings in here, find 'ro.sf.lcd_density' and I like to set this to 174 on my 800*480 screen.

To do the 'in-place' upgrade launch 'Odroid Utility' then there's a menu option top right to 'Check for updates'. You should set the download Mirror to the closest location first (I think in the other menu option)

I've ordered the 800cd/m2 screen today - thought it would be worth giving a go. I had a courtesy car 17 reg Astra with a snazzy 8" colour touchscreen when my car was being repaired and noticed that it was nice and bright. I also noticed that they had angled the screen towards the roof which does appear to reduce glare coming from the seats. I also noticed that most of the visibility was achieved using colours. During the day the screen had a bright white background and at night it had a black background. The backlight setting stayed the same throughout and it seemed to work well.

Not sure what it means for me.... but I'll give the 800cd/m2 a try and see what happens! it should arrive within 2 weeks.

Thanks Chris for the update. Where did you find the screen and how does the cost work out?

Cheers,
Ben

Blimey ..... downloaded the update package and the odroid utility says it's corrupted! Tried it twice.

Will be interested to hear what you have to say about the 800cd/m2 screen Chris. Is it compatible with the capacitive touchscreen/yam controller?

Hmm, I do remember that it's a bit temperamental - try it but without closing the upgrade window, leave the update running on the screen and don't touch anything until its ready to restart. It used to not work if you went back to the home screen while it was applying the update. Or try the other mirror server if that doesn't work?

The screen is 23usd. I've paid extra 25usd for UPS postage though as I don't fancy waiting for the usual snail mail postage.
Thanks Chris, are you able to share a link where one may purchase such a screen?

Ben

6.0.1 v3.3 in-place upgrade worked this morning. Obviously didn't like Tuesday's!

Hi Ben - its this one:

https://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=YX070TN94-VL800

Have been speaking to the seller over e-mail for the last week or two and I can forward the e-mail to you if you like. They accepted Paypal payment which I prefer as it at least offers a degree of consumer protection!

This is the datasheet for it:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/giaicehpnjlb3ux/YX070TN94-VL800.pdf?dl=0

It should be the exact same size and screen position location as our current 800x480 that you originally specified, but you might want to hold off until I can check it works with the RTD?

Kind regards
Chris Clark

Not sure if it helps anyone, but before Ben deleted his Photobucket account I was finding all the individual photos and reconstructing the thread in a word document. I then started adding other bits and pieces like the tape deck hack and reverse camera. if it helps anyone its here and I'll keep updating it when I get time:

Ben I hope this is OK, let me know if not and I shall remove the link. You could perhaps use this as a start point for your website?
