Confused about spec & suspension - help!

2007 Jaguar S-Type 2.7 SE LUXURY ( NAVIGATION ) 4dr

The above car is described as an SE Luxury, but as far as I know (not a lot!) only the Sport and XS models were dechromed. Is this truly an SE?

I am looking for a late model S Type diesel and fancy the XS looks with bodykit. However is the XS suspension a lot harder than a normal SE?

I must have powerfold mirrors and front + rear parking sensors. Did all XS have these as standard? Did any other models?

That car is not a final facelift model. Have a look at the front bumper and the grill. The final facelift has the R front bumper and a mesh grill rather than the vertical vaned plastic grill.

The final facelift SE had rear parking sensors and folding mirrors as standard. The front were an option, as I'm sure they were on all models. Not sure why that car is called an SE luxury as to the best of my knowledge there was no such model. If it is an SE it could have been an option for the dechrome.

The XS after the final facelift (mid 2007) replaced the sport. Not all XS models have the bodykit, and it doesn't have Sat Nav. Prior to this it was a limited edition.

I hope some of that can be of some use.
Those are SE seats. I reckon the car has simply been dechromed. The combination of SE seats, light coloured interior and wooden dash inserts looks far too much like an SE to be anything else.

I haven't actually driven the SE, so I can't compare suspension. My Sport with 18" wheels always gets compliments on how smooth and quiet the ride is from passengers though. It's the most comfortable car I've ever owned. The Sport handles very well too (the SE might also drive well - but I don't know first hand).

Mine has front parking sensors, but these were optional on all models as stated above. It has power fold mirrors too. Don't know if they were optional or not?
Thanks guys. I'm disappointed there have not been more replies about the questions.

One last query. Were all run out 2008 cars XS models or was the SE still an option?

I would love an XS with all the body kit, but am worried about the suspension being a lot harder and jumpy than my SE on poor roads (we have plenty in Norfolk!)
Hi Doublekite

A couple of links which may be of interest:

New Look Jaguar S-TYPE For 2008

When I had the 2.7SE my colleague bought a very well-equipped 2.7Sport. I drove
his car on several occasions and could not detect any signicant difference in ride
quality. This may have been due to my having the 18" Mercuries whilst he had the
18" Tritons. The "Sport" suspension was an option for 2005 Base V6 and SE models
(C31B) at a cost of £310. Dividing this by four does not suggest that the Sport
suspension was that different to the SE set-up. As an aside, my STR on the optional
19" Barcelonas still rides quite comfortably on most road surfaces but can occasionally
"crash" over pot-holes! I'm not sure what effect CATS has when I am pootling along
in a normal driving mode.

Right, i have an '05 sport, i dont know what the suspension is, only that in sport mode (or going home from work on friday night mode) i can sling it through roundabouts, (i live in milton keynes, so these are every 1/4 0f a mile) at silly speeds and it sticks like sh*t, this car has me driving like a yob at times, and i'm 58 years old :p but the sound is so addictve i cant help it.
Thanks guys. I'm disappointed there have not been more replies about the questions.

No the runout models were Spirit, XS, SE and R.

Not driven a sport/XS S type but I did have prior to my 2008 model SE an X type sport with 18s and I must admit to finding it very comfortable. My SE certainly appears to stick to the road and is the smoothest car I've ever driven and I don't feel much body roll going round corners although at higher speeds there is more but doesn't appear much more than the roll on my X type sport.
