Driver side headlight failure

I had both keys fobs serviced today for free at a jaguar dealership( relative works on reception but only as 2 day agency) put lights on this evening only passenger side works now, the odd thing is that if you press the red button on the key fob both lights come on turn the ignition on lights go off but when you turn the light switch on still only passenger light dipped beam comes on, main beam does work.
I will be taking the car back in the morning but anyone had this problem and managed to sort it

The keyfob switches the main beams on, not the dipped beams. The Light switche switches the dipped beams and the stalk flashes or connects the main beams.

Thanks Roger I will update my profile but for the mo its a o5 2.1 v6 petrol x when my wife brought the car back I told her the light was out I thought a bulb had gone so to check it I locked the car then pressed the red button that's when all 4 lights came on, so unlocked car put key in ignition then turned light switch on (on the dash) only the lights on passenger side came on so I then flicked the stalk and both main beam came on
That's odd as the red button should only put the main beams on. ie the two inner lights.
The two circuits are totally separate. The main beams are operated via the GEM where the dipped beams are operated by the light switch.

Its odd that all 4 lamps should light up with the fob! Its normally just the centre 2 (high beam)

My guess would be that somebody has previously adapted the wiring to illuminate all 4 with the fob and i guess again... that the adaptation to the dip beam is using the high beam fuses when lighting through the fob. If this is the case, i would be looking at a blown fuse and possibly blown bulb in the dipped headlamp. The fact that the fobs have been 'serviced' on the same day is coincidental imo.

Check all fuses first.
Thanks squirrel I just gone back to the car and had a double check based on your post its only the inner lights come on both sides, my apologies, I have checked both fuses 29 and 30 both ok the odd thing is we had both fobs serviced it cant be a bulb as the light comes on with the red button so unless its the dash switch cheers matey

Just for clarity:

Dash switch pos 1 - inner side lights
Dash switch pos 2 - outer dipped beams
Fob switch - inner main beams

If the fuse is OK it's likely to be the bulb.

I think you are confusing yourself. The fob only puts the main beam (inner) on.
The Dash light switch puts the dip beam on.
The stalk switches between main and dip.
If you have a dip beam out and the fuse 30 is fine then it has to be the bulb. Not easy to change if you have never done it so watch your knuckles.
If you have headlight washers then you need to disconnect the pipe.
Release the clips and move the cover to gain access to the bulb.
Change the bulb, replace to cover and I use a metal coat hanger to pull the clip back (at the wing).
Reconnect the washer pipe and there you are done.

The confusion deepens!!!

Is it the dipped beam (outer lamps) or the main beam (inner lamps) that are not working?

Note that the cars sidelamps are fitted to the inner lamps with a different bulb! IE: If you press the fob, the MAIN BEAM is illuminated. If you switch the light switch to position 1 (as Wilber explains) the sidelights in the same inner lamps illuminate but this is a sepperate bulb! Position 2 illuminates the dipped beam (outer lamps) and by pulling back the left (indicator) stalk, the main beam (fob button also) is illuminated.

Ignore the fob for now..... Go out and switch the ignition on (or start the car) and switch the lights to position 1 and note what lights up.... Then switch to position 2 and note what lights up.... Then pull back on the stalk and see what lights up.

This is fascinating!!!! :)

Your welcome but I thought it was only one bulb causing the problem.:?

He's got one of these:

...So we drilled it out so that it would fit
And with a little bit of help with an adapter kit
We had that engine runnin' just like a song
Now the headlight' was another sight
We had two on the left and one on the right
But when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on....
