Seller stated that 01 jag s type was running fine then They installed a new battery and now the car doesn't crank over no response from windows dash lights won't work correctly. Sent it into a shop and said it gets power into the ecm but not out. It came into My care thought the issue was the inertia switch reset it bought a new battery for it I go to put the terminals on and the lights (all external lights headlights/taillights etc) stay on the engine fans start spinning I put the key in and the dash lights will show in the position before you attempt to turn it over but as soon as you turn it over the car horn sounds and the red security light flashes right next to the front windshield but windows still no response and will not crankover don't know if this is problems with the ECM please let me know!! Update: all fuses including the mega fuse does not look to be blown, when the new battery is connected the cars headlights/tail light and turn signals stay on and fan in the engine starts running constantly I have nothing on the radio or basically any interior eletronics working no window roll up/down at all no dash lights then I stick the key into the ignition and turn it to the 1st position all the dash lights and radio lights turn on but still cannot roll windows down and no sound from radio then when I go to try and start the car nothing happens except the car horn starts sounding constantly but cannot start no crank the dash lights and every thing goes off untill I put it back into 1st position would this be bad ignition coils and may need key reprogrammed? Or would this definitely be a bad ecm/ecu even if no fuses seem to be blown. NEW UPDATE Update I found how to get the security flash off and all the eletronics work EXCEPT every switch for the widows/sunroof do not work and will not crank or attempt to start lights and engine fan constantly stay on while hooked to battery

The ECMs are very robust and rarely give any trouble. However, the one you have might have had the battery connected up the wrong way around or something.
The symptoms you describe aren’t common. But the PATS light and the no start, maybe even the alarm sounding I have heard grouped together as an issue with the key being recognised.
It doesn’t explain the other weirdness.

The workshop manual will have pinpoint tests to follow for each fault that may help you test power to each module and communication.
Did the car run before with that key?

Check the fault codes before you do anything else.

I believe so since the person I got it from only have me 1 key
Is this car for a customer? I still would check for fault codes before doing anything else and report back.
No I bought it from someone and the car basically goes into a security error where the horn Blairs and flashes the red light when i got the new battery installed the mega fuse and all other fuses do not look to be blown I have some relays with cracked plastic housing the key unlocks the car doors and trunk manually but the wireless remote does work to turn off and on the alarm horn but does not unlock the car
Do you get the message Colom locked?

Close all doors and use a screwdriver to lock the latch of the boot lid. Disconnect the battery and wait for 10 minutes and reconnect.

Take the key and unlock the driver door (even if its not locked) and then turn the ignition on and give it a try.
No i have no error popup. Update I found how to get the security flash off and all the eletronics work EXCEPT every switch for the widows/sunroof do not work and will not crank or attempt to start lights and engine fan constantly stay on while hooked to battery
Without a proper fault code reader it's very difficult to find the real problem.

If you have a laptop install Forscan and get a decent ELM327 with a HS/MS switch or even beter: a ELS27.

Use Calibration:

Automated transmission: XW4FMF

Manual transmission: XW4FUG
