If Switzerland has Power Cuts during the Winter month's they are going to Ban Electric Vehicles so much for them being Eco friendly.

I don't think that it's been mentioned, but when the time comes that everybody is driving EV car's the multi storey car parks will have to be closed because they won't be able to carry the weight according to what i've read.
So any new multi story being built now should have extra strength added.

They won’t be closed entirely, just have weight limits or put them on the lower levels of the car park. It’s only the older ones that are affected anyway from the 60’s/70’s. Cars in general have gotten bigger and larger though especially with the popularity of SUVs.

Hello Ian,

many companies claim to be CO2 neutral, none are.
Electricity is essential to their operation, but electrcity is far from CO2 neutral. Why do they claim this, electrcity suppliers use energy certificates that they buy from such as forestry owners or even, I believe Mr. Musk who because of his production of electric vehicles can sell these certificates. it's all smoke nad miirrors and pure scam. the popular term is green washing.

Thanks for mentioning green washing, as the big oil companies are famous for it. With spending an extortionate amount of money to appear that they doing their bit for the climate.
Quite ironic that the idea of a carbon footprint calculator was created by none other than BP. Makes you think of your own footprint and what you can do to reduce it, rather than what the oil industry themselves are doing, clever.
Hello J777stp,

of course elecric vehicle are not environmentally friendly. Nothing that uses electricity is, nor is it efficient.

The government is pushing both electric vehicles and heat pumps and neither will reduce CO2 emissions, which is their aim.

If, as is their aim, to decarbomise electrical generation then it would change, but their mindless pursuit of renewables guarantees that will never happen. To explain my position, and I'm sure I've already done so in earlier posts, renewables are not an equivalent to conventional generatiom nor can they replace it. Practically and technically they are unsuited to large scale grid supply.

The increase in demand from an increase in evs and heat pumps merely increases gas generation. Despite an increase in the construction and commissioning of new wind farms, total generation levels from them have not increased as older wind generators and solar panels have diminishing output with age, and have a relatively short life span compared to conventional generators.

How can governments get it so wrong, I can only surmise it is by a bad selection of advisors. This matter I am pursuing with my M.P., for nearly a year now with no departmental response, I asked how do governments select advisors, given that if they need advice they are in no position to judge the quality of the advisors.

goes to show you can get opinions from all sorts of places and like the old saying goes opinions are like A******ES everyone has one. The new batteries manufacturing are also very environmentally unhealthy. Remember the rush for Diesel how did that end up.

Hello Ian,

I agree, I don't believe it does them any credit.
They should be pushing the science of climate change and the many diverse opionons ther actually are. The science as Mr Obama famously said is settled, quite the opposite is true. Indeed science works and progresses by challenge and scrutiny. Too many climate scientists resist this and resort to ad hominem attacks.

You may like to look at a Dutch organisation, Clintel. They wrote an open letter to the Chairman of the IPCC with severe critisism of their laters AR 6 report. :- Thorough analysis by Clintel shows serious errors in latest IPCC report - Clintel

I have no particcular axe to grind but as a retired engineer I like accuracy and proportion.
