The cable has pulled through mate, search fuel release cable and all will become enlightened, mine's similar but I can't be bothered to rectify it (had too much other stuff going on lately) good luck

 

Thank you, after searching all has become clear. I can see the black plastic nipple in the recess. Will have a go at pulling it out with some pilers.

 

Apparently it is possible to get your hand down between the rear wing and the strengthening panel to push the cable through but I'm not blessed with slim hands so I've not tried this.

 

The pilers have failed me, just cant get a grip on it. As you have suggested i need to try and get my bannana hands down there to push it back into position.

 

In theory, it must be possible, otherwise a cable replacement wouldn't be possible would it?

 

Hiya, sadly pushing it back into position won't help, the co-axial spring has broken up and it'll go again next time you pull the lever. With a bit of a tug you can pull it out from the inside of the car, and replace the spring, unless of course the cable has broken. (unlikely) Good luck, let us know how you get on. Martin.

 

Its raining here so u havent been back out to try accessing it from the boot. I did notice however with Martin mentioning the spring. If i push the black catch which is in the black square recess its pushs in maybe 1cm and if i then remove the pilers is springs back. Is that the spring you were talking about martin?

Saw this thread and thought I would take a look at mine so I removed the wheel arch carpet in the boot you will see the cable I was able to grab it with my right hand and pull the cable out of the hole and I replaced the spring with a stronger one but the hard thing is getting it back in the hole as it is a square hole so keep turning the plastic latch until it slips in and job done
