Well, as some of you know already, I've done the deed and changed my trusty X350 for a 2016 3.0 XJ Autobiography.

Just picked up today, but so far so good, really enjoying her.

Picked up in Yorkshire and drove to Dumfries for an over night stay before heading back home to sunny Larkhall.

The journey was completely uneventful but such amazing comfort, and the difference in power is staggering, I didn't think it would be so much different from my 2.7 but wow. (Yes I know, not 5.0 fast, but fast enough!)
Got loads to learn and work out, but I'm like a dog with 2 tails at the mo.

Here's the ad pic as per my "old" G15's story thread, I'll get some more once I get the chance to give her a proper wash.

It sure would, my garage is “just” big enough for my Mk3 Escort when I had it, even then I could hardly open the door!

Nicely done Glenn... looks a beauty. You may even know what everything does by the time you get to the Lakes :ROFLMAO:

That's the plan. Hoping in a couple of weeks I'll be bored as I know what everything does.

A couple of things the ad said it has, it hasn't like ACC and lane assist but not deal breakers, just a bit disappointing. The main things I wanted are there which is the main thing.

Hopefully no other shortfalls.

Cheers Henry, defo didn't want a black one, the x350 was black and wanted a change.
I remember seeing one in 2010 and had to look at the badge as couldn't believe it was a Jaguar but in a good way. So I'm happy I've finally got one and a well spec'd one too!

I agree a good black Jag is nice, but that grey is a very nice change! ;)

Well done Glenn it's a very nice looking XJ and it's not Black not that i've got anything against Black 😉, you'll need to get used to the size for these twisting roads around the Lake's and don't be hogging all the space in the car park at the Premier Inn.

Welcome to the club. Get ready for plenty of DPF discussions!
Can't deny, some of the discussions I've read gave me the fear, but decided to take the leap into the abyss so I wasn't left out.

Cant wait for my first big warning on the dash…

Don't worry I'll get plenty practice man handling it around some of my local roads before then. I'm just glad it's got all the cameras as I think I'm going to need them!
im sure there is an HGV park near so I can squeeze in…

Lovely looking car, the same colour as mine so maybe I am biased. As far as DPF and oil dilution is concerned, keep a regular check on the oil level and expect it to increase. Don't panic about it but do change the oil and filter when it gets to "Max".

Congrats Glenn, she's a beauty and in your hands at last.

You've been buzzing about this for about a week now, like a kid with a new toy for the coming days, weeks, months I'm sure.

You'll definitely have noticed the extra power, up almost 100bhp from your 2.7Tdvi. You'll notice it even more once you play around with the flappy paddles / Sport mode / Red mist mode lol.

There's a lot to get used too, if you read the book, have a play and really get into it, you should be all good by the time the Lakes comes around :ROFLMAO:

As for not having ACC or lane assist, that's not a miss in my book and certainly looks better from the front without it.

She is a bit bigger in all regards as compared to the 350 and you'll be thankful of the cameras ( have a play with the front / rear / 360 mode when driving, quite strange to see )
Funnily enough, when reversing it's almost too much. You have a big car with very limited views through the rear window, but looking anyway, plus over the shoulder, plus door mirrors etc AND the rear view camera lol, your head will be all over the place.

When you get a chance, for laughs, try out the self parallel / perpendicular parking in a quiet car park somewhere, works really quite well, but disconcerting to say the least.

You've mentioned about the stories about oil dilution etc, not much difference to the stories about the X350, just need to be aware, switched on as best you can and get on with it. Watching the levels and regular oil changes are what's needed there.

As for mods / upgrades? Not much you can do really as it really should have most of what you want / need already there.
Maybe worth considering......

Mudflaps all round to protect the wider rear sills and haunches
Remote boot mod
Aluminium gear shift paddles
Definitely get rid of the std wheel nuts and lockers asap binned for solid new ones all round ( you've already been there )

You can take the Autotrader advert down for the ole girl now, see it's still live.
Hopefully she goes to a good home and lives on.

Plate change will be the next thing for you I guess?

Look forward to hearing more and seeing her in the flesh
Cheers

Amen to that!! And a better wrench, too. And the JAGUAP flaps from China.

What´s the remote boot mod, Jim?

Cheers guys, it was last serviced in May so definitely getting an oil change in the next week or so.
The X350 got 2 a year so will up this to 3 and see how it goes.

I’ve got the wheel nuts listed on my fleabay along with some cheap mud flaps with no writing to avoid the Jacuar on the ones I did see. I’ll keep an eye for genuine ones though, didn’t hit the buy now until I knew it was in my ownership.

Apart from cosmetic not much can be done but happy with that.

I’m sure you’ll see her in the flesh very soon Jim, your not wrong about not having the massive plastic dinner plate on the nose, thats one of the things that drew me to this one (along with it being grey)

I know I've been focusing on getting an XF next year but these threads of the XJ do make me question myself sometimes. It would be a tight squeeze on my driveway and there are things I prefer on the XF... but... it's an XJ, this is an Autobiography. I don't want to be tempted.

That makes 8 Autobiographies I have now on my list. Getting rather more common than I would prefer.
