Well, as some of you know already, I've done the deed and changed my trusty X350 for a 2016 3.0 XJ Autobiography.
Just picked up today, but so far so good, really enjoying her.
Picked up in Yorkshire and drove to Dumfries for an over night stay before heading back home to sunny Larkhall.
The journey was completely uneventful but such amazing comfort, and the difference in power is staggering, I didn't think it would be so much different from my 2.7 but wow. (Yes I know, not 5.0 fast, but fast enough!)
Got loads to learn and work out, but I'm like a dog with 2 tails at the mo.
Here's the ad pic as per my "old" G15's story thread, I'll get some more once I get the chance to give her a proper wash.
Congrats Glenn, she's a beauty and in your hands at last.
You've been buzzing about this for about a week now, like a kid with a new toy for the coming days, weeks, months I'm sure.
You'll definitely have noticed the extra power, up almost 100bhp from your 2.7Tdvi. You'll notice it even more once you play around with the flappy paddles / Sport mode / Red mist mode lol.
There's a lot to get used too, if you read the book, have a play and really get into it, you should be all good by the time the Lakes comes around
As for not having ACC or lane assist, that's not a miss in my book and certainly looks better from the front without it.
She is a bit bigger in all regards as compared to the 350 and you'll be thankful of the cameras ( have a play with the front / rear / 360 mode when driving, quite strange to see )
Funnily enough, when reversing it's almost too much. You have a big car with very limited views through the rear window, but looking anyway, plus over the shoulder, plus door mirrors etc AND the rear view camera lol, your head will be all over the place.
When you get a chance, for laughs, try out the self parallel / perpendicular parking in a quiet car park somewhere, works really quite well, but disconcerting to say the least.
You've mentioned about the stories about oil dilution etc, not much difference to the stories about the X350, just need to be aware, switched on as best you can and get on with it. Watching the levels and regular oil changes are what's needed there.
As for mods / upgrades? Not much you can do really as it really should have most of what you want / need already there.
Maybe worth considering......
Mudflaps all round to protect the wider rear sills and haunches
Remote boot mod
Aluminium gear shift paddles
Definitely get rid of the std wheel nuts and lockers asap binned for solid new ones all round ( you've already been there )
You can take the Autotrader advert down for the ole girl now, see it's still live.
Hopefully she goes to a good home and lives on.
Plate change will be the next thing for you I guess?
Look forward to hearing more and seeing her in the flesh
Cheers
Jim
