I am new to the forum and would like to ask for help and advice on my 2005 S Type Diesel 2.7 V6 SE 4 Door Auto which has done 33,000 miles and I have owned from new.
I had 'gearbox fault' which I took to my local jaguar dealer and was advised it was P0783 fault - 3rd / 4th Shift Fault and they reflashed the computer software for the gearbox and updated software and checked for any oil leaks. They told me that I might never have the fault come up again but if the fault does reappear it is likely to happen within 400 or 500miles from now and to drive the car carefully and only time and use will tell.
I'm assuming that if the faul does rear its ugly head again that it is going to cost me big time and to make matters worse I have just taxed, insured, serviced, mot'd, put on new tyres, had Arms/wishbone replaced.
Should I get shot of the car before it starts costing me further? Has anyone had this fault, or had the computer update and found it cured the problem?
