When changing the gearbox fluid on a 2003 XK8 6 speed is it possible to drain all of it including that held in the transfer box? If not, how much can you get out?
Thanks

Hi. There is a certain amount of oil trapped in the box and about 5 or 6 liters can be drained only. I hope this helps. :)

If there is space and the drilling does not ruin anything, I can't see why it should be a bad idea.
2 reasons it is a bad idea.

1. You run the risk of getting swarf inside the torque convertor.

2. By drilling a hole and welding a nut on you would have to get the TQ rebalanced. To do that you would need to remove it from the car for rebalancing.

Just had my XJR gearbox refilled by ZF. 6 litres of oil and a new connector sleeve. 60% cheaper than Mr Stealer.
