Hello , I'm back. After sorting some of the issues with the car including door lock which now works wonderfully, start stop, boot opening by itself cambelt , filters etc I want to do the gearbox service. Has anyone done this process lately? I'm interested in buying the kit as a friend will do it for me . Where's the best place to buy the kit ebay or ? 2.2d xf 8speed.

Just booked mine in for its 2nd gearbox service in my ownership.

Kits are available for circa £300 on ebay, but

For £348 inc at the Jag Specialist in Doncaster, you get it done by those who've done hundreds, full mashings on the ZF kit, adaptations reset, codes read and deleted, etc.

No brainer,

And I don't get mi hands dirty, instead I get to go for a Full E at the local greasy spoon.

Hi Nancy, the kits can be bought from TheJagspecialist / Bristol Transmissions and various others

For the costs involved, you might consider having TheJagspecialist do it for you, around £350 thereabouts, depending on where you are in the country there's also Mackies Transmissions who are ZF partners etc
Something to consider as Ashanti says too

I certainly recommend and endorse what @Ashanti has said, done and dusted.(y)

Hi, if you fill your location in someone might be able to recommend a good service centre close to you. Phil

I got my kit from Autodoc and it was £200 but for the 6hp. 8hp takes different fluid.
You need the car level and a way of monitoring the gearbox temp with a scanner. Obviously a torque wrench and the correct bits.

People said look on Ebay.
Try the zf parts catalogue and get the article number for the correct kit and then search that way.
Is there a way to find the correct 8 speed gearbox model ?

It'll be stamped on the gearbox, but I think you'll find it's an 8hp70.

Time to update your signature with your car details. This will save people wanting to help from trolling up & down (what may be) a long thread, trying to find if you mentioned it.
