sounds like it needs a new mast, about a tenner, you might need to strip the mech to fish out the snapped off plastic tail section inside.
Help required with sticking aerial 1999 Jaguar XJ8
Hi Folks,
I am currently just about to sell a 1999 Jaguar XJ8 and am attempting to tidy up a few issues before doing so.
Whilst the aerial mast does raise and lower, when the car is off the mast sits at approx 8" high, the lower section not retracting. Is this correct or should it sit flush with the body?
If it should fully retract can anyone point me in the way of a guide to freeing her up? I have tried a preliminary lube up with WD40 and pushing down whilst the motor is retracting.

It should be flush.
Put some silicone spray on it and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies, will try some silicone spray as we have a can at work. If not I'll look at a replacement mast.
