Macca, you will have to be more specific on what seals you mean, are they the ones the glass slides up and down in, or the seal on the outside of the door that pushes against the glass?
The seals at the bottom of the window on the outside that bubble. Looking for a how to remove tutorial
Probably in the how to guides but no one can use them anymore, why wont someone sort these out or at least remove them or explain why not and by the way why have moderators got pictures in there signatures
Macca, they are called the weather strip or waist seal and the bubbling on the rear is very very common. To remove lower the window and just pull them up with your finger's,when re-fitting just push down making sure the clip at the front engages, you may need to tamp it down with a long strip of wood, tapping it lightly so as not to leave any dent marks in rubber. Front is removed by lifting rear edge up and sliding out from under the mirror, when re-fitting mark the new one in the same place as the old one is marked by the mirror, this will give you a stop mark to push in under the mirror, again clip in at the rear end and tamp down.
I have the same procedure to do on my o/s rear waste seal. Purchased a new one recently from ebay when i found out they were easy to replace. Thanks for the advice, will give it a try today.
Howdy Clive, learning something new again. Loads of little jobs to do; waste seal replacement, drivers window guide/seal replacement, J-gate replacement (clicking like mad!) and a new handbrake gaiter to fit. All ideal for a Sunday.
Just to add, with anyone with an estate, you can replace the very rear window waste seals by just pulling them towards you as they are clipped into the window frame itself. Amazing how much dirt is behind them! I had to replace both sides on mine as they both rusted through.
I need to replace the rear window waist seals on my xType , but now I know how to remove the old ones , thanks to your advice
I know this has been talked through, but do have a question. Just going through all the niggles on the car. I have bought a rear near side waist / waste seal for my x-type from the local Jag dealership. I've took the old bubbled one off and fitted the new one, however, the front bit (after the window / next to front door) does sit properly, its kinda raised a little and doesn't meet the door frame properly. Looking at the door frame there is a little piece of metal almost like a clip on the bottom, and on the new seal is a piece of rubber that is almost parallel to the afore mentioned metal clip, This bit of rubber isn't there on the old one.... Any ideas?

I've just posted how to change the microswitch in the J-gate to stop the clicking - here. http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/f26/how-repair-annoying-click-auto-j-gate-pictures-54397.html

You wouldn't happen to have the Jaguar part number for the seal perhaps? I need to replace both of my rear ones (when I get the car) and a part number would be useful, also how much the dealers charged you if you can?
the N/S one is C2S42738, not sure if O/S is different as i only bought the N/S one.... Cost was £19 + VAT

Thanks for that mate much appreciated. Just had a look on the web and the offside one if anybody needs the number is C2S427377.

Just checked a little bit more and the codes for the estate seem to be different, as follows;

LH side C2S42740 RH side C2S42739
When i changed mine i painted some clear varnish on the inside where the quarter glass is see if this helps stops the bubbleing.
From the forum I have ascertained how to fit the rear door waist seals, but can anyone tell me where I can buy (at a reasonable price) a pair for the rear doors of X-Type Estate, and are they different to the saloon? Thanks for any help.
Lucretius. Any joy finding a set of seals? There's a full set for the estate on eBay but it's £200+ which is extortion, pure and simple. Is there anyway to repair the bubbled ones if they're not available cheaper than that?
The estate rear door seals are only £23 each. You literally open door and grab the edge pulling upwards and they come clean off, just clean underneath and replace, takes less than 2 minutes.

The estate rear windows seals on the other hand are a crazy price from dealers, I got mine from a scrapped car from Eurojag, I picked the best one whilst I was there, had them on 18 months now and no rust coming through, I take them all off every so often and clean underneath as it does get filthy behind them.
