Hi. As you say the 4.2 sc at start up goes to 1000/1100rpm then settles down as the engine warms up but 2000rpm does sound a tad high to me. Have you approached your dealer to discuss this or has he just fobbed you off with the "Thats normal sir". :roll:

 

On my 4.2 car there was no issue.
It is on my new 5 litre s/c that I get the high revving on startup.
Just wondered if it was normal?

 

Hi, I was curious about this too. Mine does the same as yours starts High (2000) and then slows to idle speed. Im guessing its normal.

Plus, just had its first year service and they never changed it (doesnt mean its right offcourse).

Mine does this (5.0 XKR 2009) and as an old school engineer it always seems to rev too high. I have assumed its normal.

 

Seems like mine is not anything untoward then.

Just worries me that the car revs to 2000 before its had time to get the oil round....

I suppose they know what they are doing when the car is built though............. :?

 

I ahve a 5.0 normaly apserated and yes this is normal, my son is a Jaguar technician and confirms this is correct.

 

hello evrybody , i jus wanted to no how to rev the car with its high end sound , im not knowin how to produce a good sound out of it , if i press the pedal and keep ,it jus doesnt giv tat supercharged sound ..

 

Hi Danivt, removing fuse 19 makes a slight increase in the V8 sound but not a huge difference. 8)

 

thankq so much PETEB , tat was helpfull too , i meant to say i don no how to rev the engine , its an automatic gearbox rit , i jus hold on to gas pedal and think tat it wil produce sound , but only wit regualr intervals of pushing the pedal , i get tat TUP...TUp....TUP>.....

If I understand your message(!) you are trying to get the engine to rev freely with whilst stationary?
This is not possible, as I believe it is limited to about 3000 RPM in neutral.

hi guys , i want some help .. jus took the car for sum road experience .did sum drifts and high rev accelerations with sports and dynamic mode activ ..i was showin to my frens..suddenly the panel started showin "Engine Overheated" i was thinkin evn a sports cars engine gets overheated ..but it shud b built in such a way tat it shud resist .so can any of u tell y this happened ? and is ther any probelm if i drive aftr tat ,
