I wonder if anybody else with a 5 litre s/c can tell me if their car revs immediately up to about 2000 RPM on startup?
My old 4.2 s/c didnt do it.
With the new one, it revs immediately up to 2k and then settles down again!
Is it normal?

Hi. As you say the 4.2 sc at start up goes to 1000/1100rpm then settles down as the engine warms up but 2000rpm does sound a tad high to me. Have you approached your dealer to discuss this or has he just fobbed you off with the "Thats normal sir".

Seems like mine is not anything untoward then.

Just worries me that the car revs to 2000 before its had time to get the oil round....

I suppose they know what they are doing when the car is built though............. :?
