How annoying? Some people ! XF damage

A few weeks back, outside B&Q, some &¥€$£@ managed to hit my Jag XF in an almost empty car park. Needless to say B&Q CCT “didn’t quite catch it” on tape!

Front wing damage, not major, but still £400. Got it back and we’ll pleased with the repair.

Went up to Newcastle to watch the golf (British Masters) and after a 5 hour drive to a B&B, parked outside and checked in. 10 mins later I ‘m outside getting our bags in and someone has hit it in exactly the same place! Obviously they didn’t hang around or leave a note.

Sometimes I think people are just jealous and do it on purpose! (OK, maybe not.)

Hi, I know how you feel, I went to pick my brand new XF up from Manchester and on the way home coming down the M56 I stopped at Lymme for lunch, I parked in the car park as far from the pub as possible, not a car in sight, came out an hour later and someone had put a six inch dent in my front wing and disappeared. I'm gutted for you, I hate car parks with a vengeance, the gaps are far too narrow for the size of cars nowadays, I'm sure they are still working to the measurements of a Ford Anglia when they mark them up.
I absolutely hate parking in supermarket car parks and avoid it as much as I can parking in the overflow or as far away as possible to avoid other cars. Average car park size in the UK is 4.8m x 2.4m. New XF is 4.9m long so will stick out the bay slightly and is over 2m wide not giving much room at all to get in or out the car.
Sorry to hear that, total lack of respect these days.
Glad to see i’m not the only one that complains about car parking and I also park away from the rest of the cars. But I always find that some muppet parks next to me !!!

BTW - Costco have larger car parking spaces so I find I go there, even if I can’t get what we actually want ! :)
A slight diversion though still a Parking Space of sorts , a friend has just exchanged contracts on a new build house here in Milton Keynes ,
turns out the car won't fit the Garage , in fact it does fit he just can't enter or exit the car once its in there

Went to Adsa yesterday in the wifes new Golf GTI and parked in the furthest quiet corner of carpark. Cane back to it 10 mins later to find rear bumper all scraped. No note left. Tossers.
WTH is wrong with these people?

Jim
I might take the biscuit here.
Parked my last XJR in a 24hr Tesco at 06:00hrs. Not a car in sight, very big car park in Reading, but I still parked in the middle.
As I was about to open the door, a woman parked next to me so close that I couldn't get out! Go figure. Do they need another car to give them a guide?
Anyway, I started it up and drove across to the opposite bay.
I just can't fathom why this kind of thing happens.

I believe it's called the "Herd Instinct", you can get the same thing if you are driving along with not a car in sight, then you spot one in your rear view mirror a long distance behind, next thing is however fast you are going they catch you up and sit right behind you for the rest of your journey. Phil
I had one in my previous car, like everyone else parked it well away from everyone else, came back and the rear bumper was hanging off. Amazing though no one seen anything and no CCTV, bet that wouldn't be the case if you dropped litter!!!!!!!! One good thing out of this I now own a XF
I try not to take my XF shopping because of this very fact. I bought it back in May, and within 4 hours it had a ding in the door which is still there as I cannot warrant spending a large sum of money (it's right on the crease) for a little dent you can only see when the light catches it. It amazes me as the car came from London, where you would expect dings, and I live on the outskirts of Southampton. I still have my X-Type which I try to use for shopping, and like everyone says you could park at the furthest corner of the largest car-park and someone will park so close you can hardly open the door, I really don't get it.

What annoys me most is the fact that no-one ever owns up, I couldn't hit a car and leave, it would pray on my mind for days.

My last car park event was about 6 weeks ago, I was using my MGF (so smaller than the average car) for a trip up North. Now I had the whole car re-sprayed in the summer, and this thing is bright yellow, so you cannot miss it. I stopped at Sandbach or Knutsford Services to answer the call of nature, parked in the middle of the empty section of the car park. Yet when I come back the rear bumper has been scuffed down the drivers side, and knocked forward about quarter of an inch, yet no note, and no vehicle anywhere near. All I know is that the vehicle that hit it was white, as paint flecks left on my bumper.

This makes me so angry!!!!!!!

I remember something similar when I was learning to fly a glider as a teenage cadet. I was warned before my solo that there is a tendency to head for a landed glider (despite the rest of the airstrip being empty) when one tried to land which I needed to be aware of!! Like the Herd Instinct.
