Internal Beep at 10mph?

Hi everyone,
I got a 59’ plate XF 3L V6 Luxury (automatic) yesterday. Beautiful car.

I’m not sure if I’ve got a fault or an annoying feature though...

When I go back down to 10MPH I am getting an internal beep from around the steering console area. It is quite loud and isn’t linked (as far as I can tell) to the parking aid (which I’ve tried turning down).

Do they all do this? Or should I have it looked at? Is it something I can turn off?

Thank you!

I understand it may be a stupid question but, when this "beeping" is happening, are you reversing or just slowing down? (going forward)

Just slowing down. Any time I come down from above 10MPH to 10MPH I get the noise (going forwards).
Maybe it is related to something that operates at 10mph although why it should beep when you slow down to that speed I don't know.

On my 2013 car, drive away locking can be set at 5, 10 or 20mph. It can be adjusted in the touch screen. Maybe try altering this and/or enabling then disabling to see if it has any effect.

If you have blind spot monitor in your door mirrors this also operates at 10mph although I don't think the owner has any control over this.

I'm clutching at straws here but there must be a logical explanation.
Have you checked the ASL (auto speed limiter)?. I've never used it but clutching at more straws!

Thanks for the idea!

Tried switching it to 20mph and 5pmh and still hit me with the alert at 10mph :(

As far as I can see, this is off. However, I'll try a spin now and see if maybe it's fundamentally got 10mph in its head from somewhere!

Gave this a try - still no luck though.

The ASL worked nicely though. Good feature.
I don't have this feature but adaptive cruise control (ACC) will switch off if you slow down below 18mph and it beeps to warn you. A message should also pop up so it would be difficult to miss.

Another straw clutched.
I used to get a similar beep in my old S-Type, turned out it was the SRS airbag system light had failed.

I'll mention this tomorrow. It's booked in at the place I bought it from. Fingers crossed it's just that as it sounds cheap haha!

Ok - sorted it.

It was one of the models with the after market front parking sensors. So I've got the sensors but not the button to turn them on and off.

I've just had them disabled and the beeping has stopped.

Hope this helps someone!

Also worth noting, rear parking sensors do still work.
