I've owned my X Type 2 litre diesel for 7 months and have had a constant issue with an annoying judder on light throttle, the car has just been in to have the clutch and dual mass replaced and as it happened, the master cylinder was failing so that was changed too. The mech who did it showed me the old clutch which was fairly new and was the dreaded solid conversion. There was very little wear even though it had started to slip and was rattling like a marble in a can. The end result is that the car now drives really smoothly with no judder at all.
In the 7 months I've changed the air mass sensor, replaced an injector and checked all hoses etc etc, and have not really enjoyed my ownership of the car one bit. I had the intention of selling it after the clutch was replaced but may give it a couple of months to redeem itself after this turn of events 馃
When I bought the car, I negotiated a good price as I could hear the rattle from the gearbox and as the guy who replaced the clutch is a friend who works for a Ford specialist and did it for a very good price and Euro car parts offering 50% off clutch parts, the whole job came in at less than 拢500 which is less than the money I negotiated off the car.
So, for those of you out there who are considering a single mass conversion, think very carefully before you try to save yourself a few pounds of your hard earned cash.

It鈥檚 certainly made it a totally different car to drive now. Just need to work out why the reversing sensors don鈥檛 work and look into fitting a Bluetooth module so I鈥檝e got phone connectivity but they鈥檙e a different post to make. One other thing is the MPG has risen significantly after replacement to over 52 from about 46, which is nice!
