Jaguar s-type Steering wheel lock broken

Since you can hear the sterring lock working i would take the steering Colom out of the car and take closer look. Could be that the gear wheel has broken off teeth's or the solenoid it self has a sheared off pin.

My s type steering felt very stiff and was making a squeaky noise. The jaguar specialist put a special liquid from a small bottle into the steering fluid tank. It adjusted it and it is smooth again. I don't know what the liquid treatment was but it adjusted something. You may want to research that. Otherwise i do not know what's causing this.

You may have the wrong end of the stick here. The OP is referring to the security lock on the steering wheel.

It will probably be as Capri v8 driver says to pick out the steering colon and investigate further what may be worn out or wrong.
