2002 Jaguar X-Type passes goes all the way into the V125 IDS but fails to read DTCs. The program cannot configure modules until DTC read is completed. Any ideas?
Yeah you're right probably smart. Mongoose Pro. I got everything fixed after I wrote this. I used the v130 and before loading the VM turned the NAT network off completely. Started the VM v130 up and configured the mongoose to default. Went to devices tab and selected Drew mongoose at the top of the virtual machine. Though it was checked already i went ahead and just did it again and it worked. After recognizing everything went fine in SDD.

My issue was the instrument pack I cloned didn't recognize the IMMO. I did an IMMO program and the ECM did its handshake. Took 5 minutes. My car was sitting almost a year. Hopefully someone gets something out of this. Merry Christmas.

Cracking result tan, and many thanks for coming back and posting your solution to help others in the future.. (y)

Excellent outcome and thanks for the update.(y)

I bought a mongoose cable from FB market place. It arrived with a DVD of SDD 160 and a JLR 3 Plus cable. Cable drivers and crack are on the disk and it runs without a virtual box. It works on windows 7 and 10. It read the vin number automatically and provided the menu systems. Its trying to update itself but I've

not let it connect yet.

Anyone here ever experienced and more importantly, managed to get over the problem of v138 wanting to download 'new software' for a module when you're reprogramming it? I have a copy of v138 from BritishDiagnostics and every time I attempt to program a module as a 'new module' to get over a problem I'm experiencing, SDD wants to download new software for that module from the internet... something an offline VM cannot do obviously. I had thought that v138 had all the files it needed bundled in and therefore didn't need an internet connection? I'm currently configuring @TheMindBuddah v138 VM to see if it's any different to the BritishDiagnostics one, but I assuming I'm going to get the same result :( Any and all help appreciated, my car is currently a very pretty, but rather useless driveway ornament...

Has anyone managed to use a DA Dongle with SDD 130 on a virtual machine? I'm scratching my head a little here, but I just can't seem to make it detect the dongle. I have the .ova and I managed to use Macrium to install the VM image onto a dedicated laptop as a physical machine and it works just fine. But running the .ova as a VM on Oracle VirtualBox and the SDD software loads, but going through the process of changing from the default interface to the DA Dongle fails every time. I'm installing the driver before connecting the dongle to the host machine, seeing DA Dongle as an option on the setup page of SDD, but it gets to 100% and fails to see the dongle.

I'm ok with the dedicated XP machine but it'd be nice to consolidate my SDD laptop and Fiat MultiECU laptop (which has to be Win7) onto a single machine. First world problems and all that...

edit to add : yes, I've enabled the USB device in the Devices dropdown of Oracle!

Should there be a link to files somewhere?

Opps!

Will sort it now!

Link "Should" now be up again!

Hello everyone,

has anyone lately bought a cable to use with V130 IDS/SDD? I need to reset the airbag light in my 2003 S-Type after removing the seats and it seems like I need to use the older V125/130 software for the IDS but there is some ambiguity with buying the correct cable for my car.

Edit: Have bought a Mongoose clone from Aliexpress for 34€ since it seems that is the only kind of cable available now, fingers crossed it works since dealer wants an outrageous 160€ for just code clearing.

You don't happen to be around Espoo area or so? I could have cheaper solution for you...

Received my Mongoose clone and it seems to be working, using V130 it identifies the VIN and tells me to launch IDS Legacy tools, however after this I get a loading screen window and then nothing happens. Has anyone used IDS succesfully with V130?

I also tried the V125 image but got stuck on the identification part, is the username and password for V125 available somewhere?

Will look into SDD 164 when i have time!

I created these images to make it a little easer to get up and running with JLR SDD
and have continued to host and share to the community.
Over the years I have seen these links appear on commercial sites selling products.

You should never pay for these images!

I will request if you download or use anything I supply!

(I just made it easy to install)

Jaguar SSD Version

Version 125
already has Mongoose toolkit installed to flash your cable with the right firmware but I and other have had no success using a Mongoose. Maybe a Rotunda VCM would work?

Version 130 already has Mongoose toolkit installed to flash your cable with the right firmware and i also made a script to auto set the date to the correct one needed. Has both Jaguar and Land rover files included. Will need ID and password to be entered on first use (USER ID - JLR9A8172 and Password - L538X760)

Version 138 already has Mongoose toolkit installed to flash your cable with the right firmware. Only has Jaguar files installed.

Version 160.4 already has Mongoose toolkit installed to flash your cable with the right firmware. Has both Jaguar and Land rover files included.

1. How to install (Version 130 Example)
  1. Install your version of Virtual-box on your OS of choice Downloads – Oracle VM VirtualBox
  2. Go to file and Import Appliance and select the image you downloaded. SDD130.ova
  3. Sit back, it can take quite a while depending on your hardware.
  4. (TIP) You can make as many clones as you like (depending on your hard drive space) and if you're working with multiple cars, then you can rename each clone for an individual cars!
  5. Double click the file that now appears called SDD130. It should now load up windows XP in a window
Do not activate any kind of online connection in the virtual machine.

  1. You should now have a window running XP. If you are using Version 130. A black window will appear. That is the auto script i created to set the date and time to 01/08/2012. Just click in the black box and press a key.
  2. Any windows boxes that pop up (search for hardware). Cancel them as it's looking for drivers of hardware you don't have.
  3. Plug your mongoose into the car and the other end into the laptop. Turn the ignition of your car to position 2.
  4. Go to devices on the top of the Virtual box window, choose USB and select the mongoose. It should say Drews.
  5. Now one of two things will happen. It will automatically detect the mongoose and update the firmware on the device or not.
  6. You can double click on the windows icon for Mongoose JLR Configuration. You should see your mongoose in the white panel in the configuration menu. Select it and flash firmware. (It will send the right firmware to be compatible with the version of SDD you are using. If your using a different version of SDD. It will flash whatever one you need) to your mongoose
  7. Change the resolution of the virtual XP. I have set it at a low 800x600 so it is compatible on everyone's screen resolution. So right click on the window and adjust to your own laptops specifications. If you press RIGHT CONTROL BUTTON and C for scaled mode or RIGHT CONTROL BUTTON and F for full screen mode.
  8. Now double click on JLR SDD. It should now load up Internet explorer (yes it is based and the worst browser ever created).
  9. If it fails to load. Close the browser and the little window with stop application Click stop application. Just double click again Jaguar SDD, and it will load. If you are confronted with a password screen (only with Version 130), which sometimes happens? There is a password.txt on the VM images desktop for v130. USER ID - JLR9A8172 and Password - L538X760, then press identify
  10. You should be now confronted with the vehicle identification number (VIN) screen. If not then your mongoose is not communicating to the car. Check Below!
Is it plugged into the car and laptop?
Is the car ignition in position 2?
Did the mongoose configuration tool flash the firmware?
Did you activate USB in the Virtual box?

Would you mind to provide (PM maybe?) IDS125_FULL.exe and SPA + patches?

VMC1 is not working reliably on vistual machines.

Please?

Do you try to run IDSv125 on VirtualBox - you need to start "tabman.exe" no login needed?

What I have learned last few weeks about SDD131 for oldcars - VIN is not accepted (?????????? error) and switching to legacy tools is not working at all, at least in virtual machines and with VMC1.

Br, Tomi

Actually I did not try the tabman.exe, just tried to launch the JLR IDS, thanks for the tip. I managed to get my airbag light to go away by disconnecting BOTH battery terminals, seems like only then do you get the deeper reset of the car computers.
