Note on Ghost Spectre's Windows 11

I have been using these for a number of years on my gaming PC and a number of other devices (Servers, Notebook) in replacement of OEM Windows.
You decide what gets installed after installation, so ideal for low end or particular uses, like a pure gaming system.
All my devices that use Ghost Spectres windows, all have a license to my MS account. They are cheaply available online if you want.
But Ghost Spectres windows is quite useable without a MS license and ideal for SDD uses.

Ghost Spectre is a modified version of Windows 11 designed to be lightweight and fast by removing unnecessary bloatware and making various performance optimizations. It's particularly beneficial for older or slower computers, aiming to improve gaming and overall performance by reducing CPU and memory usage. There are different versions of Ghost Spectre, like Compact and Superlite, catering to different user needs.

Key Features and Benefits:
  • Lightweight and Fast:
Ghost Spectre removes pre-installed apps and bloatware, resulting in a cleaner and faster-running operating system.

    • Optimized Performance:
It includes registry, service, and settings tweaks to enhance performance, particularly for gaming and streaming.
    • Reduced Resource Usage:
Ghost Spectre utilizes less CPU and memory compared to standard Windows 11, leading to smoother gameplay and reduced lag.
    • Customization Options:
Certain versions offer extra customization features like StartAllBack, allowing users to personalize the Windows UI.
    • Power Saving and Performance Modes:
Some versions include power-saving modes and other performance-enhancing features for various scenarios.
Versions:
    • Compact:
Suitable for standard users, removing bloatware and adding some extra features, ideal for everyday use.
    • Superlite:
Designed for advanced users, includes no bloatware and extensive performance tweaks for gaming and streaming.
    • Superlite SE (Special Edition):
Similar to Superlite but with extra customization features and patches pre-installed.
Potential Risks and Considerations:

    • Security and Stability:
Using custom OS versions like Ghost Spectre may pose some security and stability risks, making users vulnerable to zero-day exploits, according to a community member on Reddit.
    • Compatibility Issues:
Some third-party software or hardware might not be fully compatible with Ghost Spectre.
In summary, Ghost Spectre is a customized Windows 11 build designed for speed and efficiency, offering benefits for users with older hardware or those seeking a streamlined operating system experience. However, potential security and compatibility issues should be considered before installation.

Ideal for running on older low spec laptops for SDD.

Removed SDD 164 (Native)
No longer needed as SDD 167 works fine

Removed Mongoose driver.msi (doesn't seem to work?)
X64/x86 versions work fine

Didn't the original post contain a short guide on how to connect the SDD to a car?
You need Mongoose adapter and SDD in virtual machine, preferably VMWare. There are complete machines + software for download.

Turn on VM, and then set the date to the one it needs to work.

Connect Mongoose and route it to VM. Wait for it to connect / flash if needed, and then start SDD and follow on screen instructions.

I use IDS/SDD while the engine is running.

*Do not expect SDD to be simple. It is not, and works poorly. 🤷‍♂️

...
Thank you for the reply, I used the SDD couple of times (tonight I chickened out tho), but I do so rarely enough that every time I'd prefer to follow a guide... Like, do I first turn the key to pos II and then connect the cable? Or, wasn't there something about enabling USB in the menu?
I know the answers now (because there's a guide on the Desktop of the VM)...
...but somehow I thought there used to be such guide in the original post.

Thanks anyways, cheers

It doesn't matter what you do. SDD is not magic, it is shit. Nothing bad will happen.

Prepare everything, connect to the car, turn the car on, and start SDD. Then read the VIN and go do what you need.

For programming modules and such I would visit a dealer.

I was able to do diagnostics, make new keys, calibrate stuff and set various options.

Module programming I didn't need.

Hi
I bought a mongoose cable and VM from British Diagnostics years and years ago for use just on my own X350.
I didn't really like the virtualised solution, it wasn't 100% stable.
A few years ago someone on facebook (I'm not sure I remember who) offered to build me a standalone system based on my Dell D620 with XP so I posted it off to them and it came back with what I think is SDD 131. At the bottom of the screen it says DVD131.03 v.125.
This works really, really nicely, although it can be a bit slow.
Since then I got another Dell D620 as I'd like to have a backup, but if I pull the harddrive from the SDD system and put it in the other D620 then it asks for network or a Topix password, so something is clearly locked to the original D620.
I have tried disabling all the network/bluetooth interfaces in the BIOS (anything that could have a MAC address) but it must be detecting something else that's different.
Someone on another a Landrover forum suggest that I need the "blue patch" but wouldn't tell me any more.
I would really like to have a backup device given that this one is nearly 20 years old, and maybe I could build a Windows 7 32 bit D630, but I think I would quite like to keep with the SDD 131 software that I have as it works so nicely.
My X350 has not seen a main dealer or even a Jag specialist since I bought it something like eight years ago, and, I sometimes drive to countries where the X350 was never sold, so I really, really need to be self sufficient.
Can anyone help with my quest?

Uploading Jaguar SDD version 130 as a native install added.
Untested as I am at work and uploading using my phone!
Uploading Native install files and the 9 WinRAR files from which I obtained it.

@dieselnutjob Possibly useful if you want to make a new install!
Also possible you might be able to run SDD 167 on windows 11 on your Dell D620. if you use Ghost Spectors Windows 11 Superlight. My SDD Notebook (JagTop) that lives in the boot of my car, is also duel core (2012) with 4gb/64gb SDD. Again its 6 years younger than the Dell d620, so milage might very!

Links updated and file paths changed!
(This is to break any off site links, as I often find obscure sites linking to my storage)
If you want to distribute in other locations, like other forums.
Then please host the files yourself, for any external sites.
These files will always be available here, without the need to be authorised for a download.

Apologises for anyone who tried to download since the link update!
I keep forgetting to change permissions when I do! ! DUH!

Please never ask for Editor access to my files!
It will never be granted!
:)

I'm guessing that I need all the files in the "Native files" folder, or, all the files from the "In 9 WinRAR archives" folder, but not both? thanks
Yeah! I just uploaded the original Rar files incase somebody preferred them that way.To upload somewhere or file away for the future.

As stated! I have not been able to test them myself. So if you do install. Please post back here that it works. Also you might need the mongoose drivers, as not sure if that's part of the install structure.
