I created these images to make it a little easer to get up and running with JLR SDD and have continued to host and share to the community for 7 years+.

The reason they are in Virtual Machines is that the older versions run older windows, but can be easily run on new OS's using Oracles VirtualBox.
(Windows, MacOS, Linux)

This is simply for future availability and keeping the install in a self contained environment. So it is easier and far quicker to reinstall, than if it was installed natively.
(If something goes wrong!)

As it is a VM, you only have to install VirtualBox on systems where native installs might be frowned upon like a works laptop for example.

Over the years I have seen these links appear on commercial sites selling products.
You should never pay for these images!

I will request if you download or use anything I supply!
You give a few pennies to animal charity.

I take no responsibility for any damage to equipment or car with use of this software!

The software is clean and only misuse or inexperience, will cause any issues.

I also in no way lay claim to this software as my own
Any copyright is held by their respective holders.

(I just made it easy to install)

Also a basic level of PC knowledge is advisable!

Also the software is what it is!
Its a powerful tool even without a Topix subscription.
Unfortunately some aspects will always be pay-walled behind that subscription.
That is something I can not or ever will be able to change!

Do not activate any kind of online connection in the virtual machine or native install.
It is Cracked/Hacked software!
While it is limited in some aspects, it is still a vital tool in fault finding and repair
Allowing it online, it will try to update itself to the latest version.
Overwriting what every method that was used to allow it to be cracked.
Then you will need to pay for a Topix subscription to continue it's use.
Pricing for a single model, ranges from £33p/h up to £1,192 per year (UK)

While using the SDD today in the X-Type to see what codes etc are stored and possibly meddling where I shouldn't have... Ive managed to bring up a PECUS ERROR E on the warning display with flashing red and yellow lights.
Is there an easy remedy to clear this or is it a trip to a Jag Indie?

A quick lookup and this is a network communication problem with the ECM, first check the battery voltage for a low voltage, and stick it on charge.

Did you have a battery charger/maintainer connected whilst fiddling with SDD?

#38 ·
Mark no I didn't have a battery charger on. I'll stick it on charge when I get home from work in the morning and wait until fully charged.

Well it looks like it doesn't pay to meddle. Today I hooked up a battery charger to the X-Type battery and managed to clear the PECUS Error E fault but have now brought up a Gearbox Error fault and the car won't start.
Good job I have a spare car to be able to go to the hospital this afternoon to visit my Dad after his knee replacement operation yesterday. I'll spend some time on this Night shift researching Gearbox Errors and hook up the SDD again tomorrow.

Hi guys,

I have downloaded both images, and installed Virtualbox (latest version, 5.2.22). The machines are running ok, started, etc, but I cant manage to pass through any USB to the VM. Not only my mongoose, but even a normal pendrive is not attached. First time it disconnects from the host, but does not appear in the VM, after that if I try again it gives an error that the device is busy from a previous operation.

Windows 10 1809, fully patched.

Anybody run into this?

#44 ·
Yes, it's active, and it seems it tries to attach the usb device, but fails. But meanwhile, I tried it on another laptop, and it worked (the only problem is that I have an older cable, not MongoosePro), so it must be something with my current install of windows 10.
Question: will 128 work with older cable, if I install the driver? (I already did)

I have been running into this import failure using the links posted to Google Drive (as it reads on VirtualBox):
Failed to import appliance C:\Users\user\Downloads\IDS 125.ova

Could not create the imported medium ‘C:\Users\user\VirtualBox VMs\IDS 125 Clone Test 1 \IDS 125-disk001.vmdk’

VMDK: cannot write allocated data block in ‘C:\Users\user\VirtualBox VMs\IDS 125 Clone Test 1\IDS 125-disk001.vmdk’ (VERR_DISK_FULL).

Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR

Sorry for slow answer, but:
The error message suggests that your hard disk drive is full, so there's no space left in which to create the new guest hard drive.

Appears i am just too late, have a mongoose with 130 and 138, not from here, i have done several xp and v130 installs but can only get as far as vin not valid, 138 works after a fashion but keeps saying i need to down load configuration files, Does anyone know another source of these files. I must say well done for hosting the files for all this time.

Assistance required to download V130 to run on non-VM laptop as standalone

Apologies late in the day if this has been answered elsewhere. I am punch drunk from all the reading.
I have read as much as possible about the SDD V130 and associated matters. Please assist me to navigate this mire unharmed. I have a 2001 X100 Jaguar XKR 4.0 litre Supercharged. My main need is to read, clear and reset DTC codes and also to be able to load new components to the Car Configuration system. I fixed a number of parts on tge car however I keep seeing "Incorrect Parts Fitted Codes" also I have had to pay a local shop every time I needed to clear DTC codes. I have seen a video where the gentleman runs the V130 software without a Virtual Machine by not having Internet Access i.e. a dedicated machine also he used a file ...SoftwareDownload.htm which bypassed all the authorisation requirements. I also need to understand the type of cable connection required. I am based in South Africa and would have to source a local cable because of the issues we have with imports etc. I would appreciate it if you can assist me firstly with a download of the V130, installation without VM as I will dedicate and old laptop. Kind regards Brian Minnaar Jeffreys Bay South Africa

I just run the OVA with SDD 130. My mongoose still didn't arrive, but I wanted to fiddle with the software a bit.

Is it possible to run it without an USB adapter? I entered the win, program told me that SDD will not work on my car, and then offered to load IDS. When I tried to load it, nothing happened. Is that normal? Did I miss or mess something up?

Thanks!

TheMindBuddah, much appreciated. If it is not too much hastle, please send me a link, also where do I get the full instructions and what does the cable constitute in terms of specs. I must try to source this cable from local suppliers. Our Postal Services are so incompetent that you either never receive the item or it takes at least 6 months even if traced etc. Please I am at my wits end. The cable I can find readily is from Delphi and links to the Delphi DS150E system, which is a standalone system. Or if I know the J protocol or other cable specification etc I can tell a local SA supplier what to find. Yes I accept that Mangoose and all other cables work....this is Africa....it does not work if it does not arrive at my door....

No, Mongoose toolkit will flash it automatically when it detects the cable. I really did try to set this up as easy as possible to get up and running.

Did the midnight run last night and downloaded the OVA. Installed the VM on a lapop after updating Windows to 8.1. Installed VM, Unpacked OVA, Cloned the sucker..just in case. Ordered the Mongoose V145 advertised by a local South African Virtual Dealer. Hopefully it will arrive next week and I can do the final configuration and use. Thanks a tonne to all the comments and I will give feedback as we progress.

Ok V130 SW under VM created and cloned. Purchased a Mongoose Pro JLR cable with V145. Used Cable and flashed with VM to Drew device. Cable noted and connected to car and laptop. Does not read VIN. Typed VIN into request box and proceeded to request that I activate IDS. Does not read any further. Checked Device Drives in System Information....lists a number of Jaguar Models from X150 upward and some Landrover Models. No X100 models listed. SW or Cable not reading X100 model....I am at a loss. X100 is from 1999 to 2005. My Jaguar is a 2001 XKR. Any help out there please.

OK, some stuff you need to note:

1. set your COMPUTER date to what the files says, I think it is 1st setp or aug 2012 - that is because stupid virtual box is forcing computer time to VM, so whatever you do inside will reflect your PC time, that pissed me off
2. you need to Devices, USB, and then select Drew controller - that will connect the Mongoose to VM
3. than try to load everything

Good chance is that it won't work, because early cars use IDS, and not SDD. However, the machine should start IDS session for you when you enter (or when VIN is read).

One nice thing to note, when you start C:\Program Files\JLR\IDS\Runtime\SoftwareDownload.htm WHILE you are connected to car, it has the same effect like you enetered into engineering mode. On my car it doesn't show anything there, but I can access all sorts of stuff on the system.

Assuming that you're using Virtual Box to run the VM, then it's fairly simple to decouple the guest clock from the host using this instruction:

vboxmanage setextradata 'My Jag VM' "VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled" "1"

in which you should replace the My Jag VM phrase with the name of your VM, and you must use inverted commas if your VM name includes any spaces.
