Well, here will be my home thread for the foreseeable future, having bought my beautiful dream car a few days ago.

For those that don't know, The last 4 years have been a whirlwind of ownership in my XJ X358, A car I loved and enjoyed having many happy memories. She was with me for just a shade over 4 years having bought her at 62k miles around my 50th birthday, gone but not forgotten as they say
http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=67352

I started to get to thinking that around 15k - 20k per year was a little too much moving forward as she reached 130k miles so it was time for a change, I started looking quite enviously and in greater detail at the X351, See my looking, just looking thread here... http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=103110

This was briefly followed by the I looked, I saw I bought thread here... http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=106603

This now leads me to start my actual ownership thread relating the experiences of my time with the X351 Portfolio LWB I am now lucky enough to own.
Someone, Henry B I think it was said they were looking forward to a thread such as my X358 ownership thread. I have to say that is unlikely as this car has so many features and options there will be little I can do to change / improve although I will try.

It's more of a thread concerning ownership, the positives and any issues as they pop up, but may be more about cleaning it and adding pics initially

I had actually looked at and was almost ready to buy an Autobiography when my BFAM Ashanti made me aware at the eleventh hour of this beauty I now own, she's a Portfolio LWB version in 3.0d guise and has been spec'd with around 12k worth of options.
Black exterior again but with London Tan interior this time, a 65 plate so just 2 years old with only 16,795 miles on the clock, 20" Orona alloys in immaculate condition and lots of toys, someone really stepped up for this car, that became a bargain for me. She comes with just under 2 years Jaguar used approved warranty
Here she is......

There's so much to see and learn
The rear window and side window electric operated blinds are a really cool feature

The heated and cooled seats all round with 4 variable settings on them too were also a big hit!
Played around with the TV and rear media for a while, BBC / CNN checked them out, so much more available though. It has it's own wifi hotspot so connectivity to the internet is possible and checked that out also.

The cameras are amazing, 360 degree surround camera with birds eye view is crazy, blind spot monitor and lots more.
Looks like I'll have to contact Jaguar to set up the Incontrol account as it's already registered to the PO but I'll get that sorted asap.

Loving the soft blue hue that accentuates the door handles, clock and various window buttons etc in the evening, although not on the air vents as previously thought. These will look even better once I do the illuminated sill tread plates mod.
Looks like I'll be nerding out on this stuff for quite a while

In all honesty I can't see how there is much I can do to put my own stamp on this, but we'll see as time goes by
Initial thoughts are very simple and straightforward.....

1. Personal plate added as soon as the DVLA do their thing
2. Bootlid spoiler
3. Wheels off and hubs/ calipers painted, the Red will go nicely imo
4. Front n rear dashcams are a must
5. Illuminated sill tread plates

The journey begins.....

After her wee trip South to Crewe Hall and back, she's covered (or was) in road grime, filthy wheels / exhausts and a few thousand dead flies on the front bumper / windscreen.

I guess maybe I was making better progress than I thought lol.

On top of that, or on top of the cars were also some serious bird droppings, splattered everywhere.

Anyhow, managed to fit in a couple of car washes, the XF done too, so feeling better

Dunno what it is with these birds lately, Ive actually seen sparrows dive bomb my car, I've seen seagulls do that but never until recently sparrows.
Worst seaguls were when I was in Dunbarton shopping. Millions of seaguls all diveboming at once. I dove in the car shouting to mrs LG "Incoming!"

Just catching up Jim, gutted I could join the chauffeur duties with Simon, but looks like you all had it covered.

Im sure there will be other requests in the future that I’ll be able to step up to the mark for.

Cars looked great & as we’ve discussed before things like this definitely bring it all home how complacent we get about these cars, especially when we drive them daily for runs to the shops.

Glad it all went well.

Well, unfortunately, in this instance MacD may actually have a point, see below....
Reflection
It's a fact that birds poop on certain color cars, but they do so because of the shiny polish. Avians are known to attack their own reflection, especially during the breeding season. And so when birds see their image on well-polished vehicles, they poop on them.

Would've loved to have you there Glenn, but you were giving it laldi at the wedding, dancing shoes well on!

You know what, wouldn't surprise me if something like this pops up every now and then, who knows.

100% on the complacency Glenn, the oohs and ahhs from the girls was great, oooh heated and massaging seats, privacy blinds and cooled alcoholic drinks with feet comfortably placed in the foot rest, listening to tunes at full whack lol.

Simon mentioned in his write up that Rebecca had mentioned quite a few along the route stopping, looking and staring, must've been quite a sight I suppose, 4 black Jaguar limos led by the Green XJ X350.

Like Simon I was too busy concentrating on the road ahead.............waiting for the lights to trip us up to notice.
Sounds like you had a ball at the wedding.

Bank holiday Monday, usual, grey and drizzly weather, quiet day with nothing much on, just a little work on the Crewe Hall meet and general faffing about.

I got a call from John, he was out and about doing a few bits n bobs, any chance of a coffee?

Great, pop on in, kettles on...saw him about an hour or so later.

Tress was out at the dentist, so drive way free and motioned to him to park there lol, 2 XJ's on the driveway....we'll see what Tress says later.

She'd popped in to Greggs on the way back from the dentist, and so a couple of steak bakes and an eclair to go with the coffee later.

Of course she arrived and came in complaining about the driveway space being taken, I did tell her it was John's idea and told him not too, but she didn't believe me...no surprise there.
John just laughed and got his usual cuddle.

Wee catch up as its been a while, one of the busiest guys I know, always doing something, either whittling down his list that never seems to lessen, or doing something for someone else.

His car gives me hope, 2012 and just shy of 190k miles and although some road grime and the weather doesn't help, on any other day, looks and drives just as good as mine.

I was out and about today, had to drop into the garage for some supplies and saw a really nice red XK 4.2 Coupe as I drove in.

Funny, the owner saw me driving in and gave me a smile and a wave, which was nice, waited on me getting out the car too, so had a wee chat.

It's his "toy" and only done about 1000 miles last year.

Anyhow, told him about the Scotts bar meet at the 3 bridges and also Scottish Torque, so hopefully may join us, we'll see.

Gutted to have missed 77,077 on the clock, hopefully catch 77,777 likely on the way to or back from Crew Hall, if not before.

Forgot to add.....Renewed my Insurance today, prices have went up and then some, like everything else!
Anyhow, all sorted now

In Glasgow today, wee visit to Slaters for a few things, love that place.

Olde worlde service with a smile, morning sir, can I help you sir, anything you need sir, have a nice day etc etc etc.............a very pleasant shopping experience, if there is such a thing lol.
A couple of £££ lighter exit, and enter the car and switch on, drive off as I've done a million times before and BAM, Parking brake fault, serious error, end of the world, DO NOT PROCEED, STOP!
At least that's how it felt, parking brake error and stuck ON.

Not great when you're at a set of lights with traffic behind you.

Anyway, limped around the corner and tried a few off / on cycles but the issue and message remained, so broke out the Autel code reader.
Seemed to take a while, but eventually cleared the codes and then reset the EPB, off / on cycles and she started up fine with no warnings, drove home, all A ok.

May or may not be just a hissy fit, but spoke to Dougie and will drop it in on Tuesday for him to have a look at for me, (adding to his stress) just to make sure all is fine, nothing obvious that needs attention or some money thrown at it lol.

Big thanks to Glenn, who offered via the chat group to call out and help if needed. Everything went A ok and so not required, but can't fault offers like that (y)
In all the kerfuffle, missed 77,177, bummer!

We'll see what Tuesday brings.

Sat Nav for HGVs is what you want. They include bridge height’s too, as well as which roads are suitable for different types of HGV.
I have a Garmin Camper 770 in my :Lexus - my towing car. Can program in length and width of my combo and it navigates accordingly. Chris could tell it his X351 is 40' long and 7' wide, which is probably not far from the truth 😉

Early start this morning, up and at 'em as the car was going in to Prestige for a look see to find out what was going on.
Contacted Dougie on Sunday as this appeared and was a right royal pita, eventually clearing via Autel code reader
Vehicle Speedometer Car Motor vehicle Automotive design

He's booking, as everyone is, weeks in advance but said if I dropped it off today, he 'd check it out in the coming days, but I'd have to leave it with him, only found out this morning he's now short staffed :( and swamped with work.

Arrived at 07.30am and swigged at my Costa and had a ciggie, waiting on Tress arriving as she was picking me up, as the car was being left.
She got slightly lost as she's only been there like 15 times and got there about 08.15am.

Meanwhile Tony ( Dougie arriving around 07.50am ) had put the car on the ramp / code reader and said he'd have a look now, first car looked at, can't fault that!

Chat with Dougie / Shona and about to leave when Tony comes in and says that's that, all checked, as far as they could go.
Of course back to the Sunday, more than a little annoyed etc I'd just cleared the codes to get her working and usable again, not taking note of codes ( schoolboy error ) and so SDD showed an error, but not which one was causing the issue!

Looks like one of the actuator motors is playing up, but left or right, which one?
Here's the print outs.
Code was or is B1111-77
Handwriting Font Paper Paper product Document

B1111-77 Electric Park brake enable - Command position not reachable
Rectangle Font Parallel Screenshot Paper

As I suspected, Dougie reckons it may have been a hissy fit, time will tell.

After the initial event I've been out in the car several times with no issues, could happen again tomorrow, next week, a month from now or never, just have to wait and see.
Of course it's not likely to happen tomorrow, or when I'm 5 minutes from home on a sunny day, likely some weeks / months from now when I really need the car to be somewhere, and it's humping it down hundreds of miles away lol

Fair play to Dougie and the crew, really stepping up and doing their thing. Cost was a thank you and a hug from Tress, although I'm sure I'll pay it some other time to donate to his holiday fund

How great to have such a friendly indy on your doorstep!
And it certainly looks like just a glitch. I won't cross my fingers as I don't think it needs my help. ;)

Dougie's other customers must dread the sight of your motor rocking up, as it means they are all going to have to wait an extra half day!

Thanks John, that did it, much appreciated.

Good news is that it came on again this afternoon, for which I'm quite thankful really.
I broke out the Autel and read the codes, took a picture ( which turned out to be blurry - couldn't write the script lol )
Anyhow, remembered it showing as the right motor issue, looks like it could be C2007-18 right motor

Called Dougie and he's ordered parts for tomorrow, so hope to get her in tomorrow / the next day all being well, we'll see I suppose.

Lol you may be right Mac, although I'm sure it works for others and evens out in the end sometimes.

That said, its all down to the individual to make contacts, to push for & expect better service, value for money, to haggle on prices etc etc.
Those that want to do it, do and those that don't, just don't and mosey on along at their own pace.

Each to their own I suppose

Although it's something you could do without Jim, I tend to agree with you when you say "Good news is that it came on again this afternoon, for which I'm quite thankful really", as at least now you have the fault nailed and can get it sorted, rather than all this if, buts and maybe lark.

I’m sure that’ll sort it. Can’t fault Dougie, he knows his regulars (or touch wood not so regulars lol)
Even when I bumped into him the other week, not seen him since TV issues but he still took the time, him and his wife to have a decent blether. Others would have made small talk and then excuses to say times up.

Thinking of the fault, this could be my simple brain working but as it’s saying command position not available, maybe lifting the rear and trying brake on and off and see if both or only 1 wheel locks? Could be that putting it into maintenance mode poked the actuator off but if faulty maybe not coming back on? I’m sure Dougie will find out though.

100% Gina, better happening now, whilst I have the time and being local, rather than hundreds of miles away on a cold dark, wet n windy night somewhere lol

Dougie is something of a legend, our Scottish Chris Isles really, and as you say knows his regulars very well.

I remember you saying you'd bumped into him and Andrea somewhere, he's always up for a wee chat and has a great attitude. That being said I'd much rather catch up with him outside work as that's when the bills rack up lol.
Hopefully ( if parts come in ) he can get tot he bottom of it and resolve soonest

Busy enough day today, and got a call from Dougie saying parts were in around 12.30 and to get the car in later today.

I arranged a lift as usual from my SIL, then the text saying get the car in ASAP and so left, getting there just a little after 1pm, text in the meantime saying they wouldn't have anyone available until 3pm.

No hassle as I'd either just wait or get the lift home and collect tomorrow etc, and called on the catering van for a roll and bacon and a coffee, followed by some nicotine.
I was on the look out for @Little George as he said he may be popping in, but never saw him.
Automotive parking light Wheel Car Land vehicle Sky

Unbelievably the car was taken quite quickly and finished, back in my hands for 2.30pm, so really really can't fault that.

The bill will follow soon by Whatsapp, but whatever it is, totally worth it. She's fine and driving with no EPB issues once more, the motor was corroded supposedly according to the tech.

Nice F type SVR in red sitting outside with a lot of add ons, carbon fibre diffuser and ceramic brakes.
Talking to Dougie the full ceramic brake pads and discs job runs £22K o_Oo_Oo_O
I don't think I'd be braking very much at those prices!

I'm wondering if there was some drag going on with this issue, mpg seemed to climb quite a little bit on the way home, even moving at pace, all good.

All sorted and resolved I'm happy to say, thanks Prestige.

Glad its all sorted. Was on the lookout for your motor on the way in. Would have swung in on the offchance if I saw it. Was going to pop in on the way back so I wasn't late but time I got out of the Alexandra all was quiet there and I recon your wagon as all cool and parked on your drive.
