Well, here will be my home thread for the foreseeable future, having bought my beautiful dream car a few days ago.
For those that don't know, The last 4 years have been a whirlwind of ownership in my XJ X358, A car I loved and enjoyed having many happy memories. She was with me for just a shade over 4 years having bought her at 62k miles around my 50th birthday, gone but not forgotten as they say

I started to get to thinking that around 15k - 20k per year was a little too much moving forward as she reached 130k miles so it was time for a change, I started looking quite enviously and in greater detail at the X351, See my looking, just looking thread here... http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=103110

This now leads me to start my actual ownership thread relating the experiences of my time with the X351 Portfolio LWB I am now lucky enough to own.
Someone, Henry B I think it was said they were looking forward to a thread such as my X358 ownership thread. I have to say that is unlikely as this car has so many features and options there will be little I can do to change / improve although I will try.
It's more of a thread concerning ownership, the positives and any issues as they pop up, but may be more about cleaning it and adding pics initially
I had actually looked at and was almost ready to buy an Autobiography when my BFAM Ashanti made me aware at the eleventh hour of this beauty I now own, she's a Portfolio LWB version in 3.0d guise and has been spec'd with around 12k worth of options.
Black exterior again but with London Tan interior this time, a 65 plate so just 2 years old with only 16,795 miles on the clock, 20" Orona alloys in immaculate condition and lots of toys, someone really stepped up for this car, that became a bargain for me. She comes with just under 2 years Jaguar used approved warranty

There's so much to see and learn
The rear window and side window electric operated blinds are a really cool feature :grin:
The heated and cooled seats all round with 4 variable settings on them too were also a big hit!
Played around with the TV and rear media for a while, BBC / CNN checked them out, so much more available though. It has it's own wifi hotspot so connectivity to the internet is possible and checked that out also.
The cameras are amazing, 360 degree surround camera with birds eye view is crazy, blind spot monitor and lots more.
Looks like I'll have to contact Jaguar to set up the Incontrol account as it's already registered to the PO but I'll get that sorted asap.
Loving the soft blue hue that accentuates the door handles, clock and various window buttons etc in the evening, although not on the air vents as previously thought. These will look even better once I do the illuminated sill tread plates mod.
Looks like I'll be nerding out on this stuff for quite a while
In all honesty I can't see how there is much I can do to put my own stamp on this, but we'll see as time goes by
Initial thoughts are very simple and straightforward.....
1. Personal plate added as soon as the DVLA do their thing
2. Bootlid spoiler
3. Wheels off and hubs/ calipers painted, the Red will go nicely imo
4. Front n rear dashcams are a must
5. Illuminated sill tread plates

Friday again. got some me time and spent it on the car, needed a clean to sort out dust and the seemingly endless attacks by birds at the moment, wheels more than a little dirty / dusty too, possibly as a result of the EPB issue recently resolved.
Anyhow, a quick going over, dried etc, noticed I was getting a little low on a couple of products.
The Sonax wheel cleaner and AutoFinesse Finale QD were not an issue as I have them in stock, so sprays refilled, but the tyre dressing needed topped up, and so a wee jaunt out in a nice clean car on a sunny day......why not.
Dropped into Halfords and picked it up

Your X351 is looking stunning as usual!
Over the weekend I will pop over to the storage place to pick up bits and pieces from the boot of my car, I will try and take some more photos if possible. Insurance have said they will have to do the assessment and then I will know what they plan to do, some glimer of hope to salvage things maybe... They cannot give me any time frames just yet, no surprise there...
My temp car should be here by Tuesday/Wednesday fingers crossed... If I am still driving that around when Crewe Hall comes around then I will drive up in that (whatever make/model that ends up being). I will be sure to park away from the rest of the X351's to not spoil the photos 😂

Early start this morning, up and at 'em as the car was going in to Prestige for a look see to find out what was going on.
Contacted Dougie on Sunday as this appeared and was a right royal pita, eventually clearing via Autel code reader

He's booking, as everyone is, weeks in advance but said if I dropped it off today, he 'd check it out in the coming days, but I'd have to leave it with him, only found out this morning he's now short staffed
Arrived at 07.30am and swigged at my Costa and had a ciggie, waiting on Tress arriving as she was picking me up, as the car was being left.
She got slightly lost as she's only been there like 15 times and got there about 08.15am.

Meanwhile Tony ( Dougie arriving around 07.50am ) had put the car on the ramp / code reader and said he'd have a look now, first car looked at, can't fault that!
Chat with Dougie / Shona and about to leave when Tony comes in and says that's that, all checked, as far as they could go.
Of course back to the Sunday, more than a little annoyed etc I'd just cleared the codes to get her working and usable again, not taking note of codes ( schoolboy error ) and so SDD showed an error, but not which one was causing the issue!
Looks like one of the actuator motors is playing up, but left or right, which one?

As I suspected, Dougie reckons it may have been a hissy fit, time will tell.
After the initial event I've been out in the car several times with no issues, could happen again tomorrow, next week, a month from now or never, just have to wait and see.
Of course it's not likely to happen tomorrow, or when I'm 5 minutes from home on a sunny day, likely some weeks / months from now when I really need the car to be somewhere, and it's humping it down hundreds of miles away lol
Fair play to Dougie and the crew, really stepping up and doing their thing. Cost was a thank you and a hug from Tress, although I'm sure I'll pay it some other time to donate to his holiday fund

Thought to myself, he (you/Jim) must be on very good terms with Douglas as you were able to drop off and have it seen ASAP.
The DEF Malfunction, 400 miles to go message appeared on my 2017 F-Pace. Usual guy will not touch it as he does not have the tech and Lookers/Taggarts want £180 just to put it on the ramp. After spending the weekend reading/searching for a specialist, I noticed you speak/spoke highly of Prestige, so bit the bullet and spoke with Douglas today, first availability was June 14, car is penciled in...

Yes Taggarts will relieve you of around £180 - £190 just to look at it and put a reader on her. I know Prestige have recently just put their prices up but still around £100 an hour cheaper and all good guys.

Its the "Diesel Exhaust Fluid Dosing Malfunction...no restarts with 400 miles". The engine management light came on (first) Thursday when I was driving to Edinburgh, then 15/20 mins later the malfunction message. Took it to my mechanic as I wanted to know why the engine management light came and I thought I could top up the adblue. He said the dosing message was a bigger concern - pump/injector/sensor etc
I spoke with the independent dealer whom I bought the car from as it is less than a month, he avoided me like the plague then late Friday emailed to say "use the RAC warranty..."
Do not get me started on the RAC warranty, it is 6 months cover which I got for free when I bought the car.
Mixed forum messages from Disco Sport/XE/XF owners said "top it up and blast it down the motorway for 40 mins", others said "clean the injector", others said "check the wiring"
I do not have the tools or the knowledge so called Prestige first thing and landed a slot.
Hoping to keep the F-Pace for a few years, then get a petrol XJ.....

A certain set of events saw me bump into ( not literally ) another X351 owner today, one I'd seen before..
A hankering for some nice sandwiches for lunch lead me to Tesco, I had already decided to top up with fuel as well as I was around a quarter tank.
I drove in and found my spot, nice and quiet, parked up, locked up, looked back and then off into the store, but.....pulled aside by some guy chatting away to me with a big smile on his face.
He complimented me on my car and said he had the same too, he'd seen me drive in and waited for me to have a chat lol.
I asked him where he was parked and we walked to it, a 2014 5.0V8 and with a decent shine to it as well.
Turns out he was Jim too AND an XJ driver, what's the chances?
We had a chat, swapped stories, numbers etc, he may come along to a couple of the meets, we'll see.
I parked next to him to get a shot of them together in the end.
Afterwards I fuelled her to the brim, couldn't take my eyes of the Maserati Ghibli fuelling next to me, not so much the car, BUT the tyres!!
The fronts were like slicks with zero tread, the backs weren't much better either, unbelievable!
Who the hell drives around like that? Accident waiting to happen, especially on such a powerful car

Fell in love with the XJ the moment I watched Clarkson drive it from coast to coast in Top Gear. Will keep my eyes peeled for you and your Jag when I am out and about.

The diagnostic check by my mechanic said "NOX issue" I did not want to top up and risk overfilling even though the trip computer said "DEF 400miles" . I did check inside the adblue cap and there was ever so slight crystallisation.
My guess it's old adblue with some crystallisation in the injector- the car was sold around sept/Oct 2022, MOT expired in Nov 2022. I bought it 4 weeks ago, with a new MOT and 4 new tyres. All that standing around over the cold winter we had may not have helped matters.
If you are a golfer, maybe we can hit the golf range in Coatbridge and get a coffee....
