Hi Guys. I live in the Rep of Irl and I drive 2008 x type diesel estate 2ltr. I need to purchase 2 new fobs from a genuine UK site. They cannot be obtained over here even from the very few Jaguar dealerships/repairs outlets. Very disappointing. Any thoughts.

Never replaced mine but I know the members here don't like the ebay/amazon cheap chinese knock offs and some have had problems with them, but you could try and find s/h originals if you can't locate new ones. The actual key part can be replaced with new ones cut to match your existing one (presuming you have one of course). Then you just need to set up the fob to match the car. There are a few posts on this subject if you give this site a search.
Some info on keys and fob set up. Hope it helps and you find what you need.

Hi Billy2Jags,
Thank you very much for posting the link for Fingzfobz. Great find and very helpful if I need to do mine at some point in the future.

I have taken your advice and purchased fob. Thanks. Mo.
are your existing keys programmed to the car? Can you start the ignition?

As you've read up on this you are probably already aware, so apologies if that is the case...
There are two levels of programming required for these keys. 1) Pairing the keyfob to the vehicle security system to allow unlocking doors etc and 2) programming the transducer to allow the key to start the car.

1) can be done using this Process with the key in the ignition but 2) has to be done using Jaguar dealer software such as SDD/IDS or a suitably equipped key/lock specialist.

Assuming you have working keys already that will allow you to start the car, then you can simply transfer the transducer chip from the old key fob to the new.

Hi. I have two fobs that don't communicate with the motor but the key will start and set the alarm/central locking etc. No problem. I purchased two fobs one from UK and one from China. Jaguar main dealer here in Dublin charged me Euro 320 to program one and said they could not program the other. They gave me a load of baloney about the car being old and technology blah blah. It's a 2008 in beautiful condition. Do you think I should be able to program this new fob I purchased from Uk myself or will I have to bring it to Jaguar again and pay another Euro 320.
