Lane Departure Warning? 2011 JX.

Hi,

I have just purchased and 2011 XJ and collect it on Thursday. I have since been reading up on all the options that come with the car as advertised etc. downloaded the User Manual and had a read and also looked through all the features on Jaguars website etc.

Except my car is advertised as having Lane Departure Warning System but I can't find a single thing about this in manuals etc?? I used to have this on a Mercedes and it vibrated the steering wheel if you drifted out of you lane!! Can anyone tell me what their xj does relating to this?

Many Thanks

Have not heard about that option, maybe they have made a mistake relating to the blind spot alert optioin that flashes in your door mirror if there is a car in the blindspot area.
Lane Departure Warning System sounds like a posh way to say blind spot alert - that'd warn you not to depart from your lane?
So if you look on website of any Synter Group dealer they have almost every Xj as having it as a standard option. I have blind spot assist in addition to this.

I think you might be right and that it is an error..

Also I think intelligent high beam assist comes standard on Portfolio models doesn't it??
Scott, Im in same boat as you.
Just looking at Vehicle Specification sheet I got with my order and it clearly lists Lane departure warning system in the list under the Driver Convenience section
Blind spot assist/monitor is an optional extra i didnt want/select. So who knows. perhaps someone could drive up the M1 for me randomly switching lanes without indicating to see if they get any buzzes, beeps or vibrations (aside from the beeps, flashes and hand signals from other road users!) ;-)

It also lists 'tinted rear windows' on my spec sheet - but i didnt order privacy glass so not sure of that either.
bigmart 57, I actually had to "option delete" the tinted rear glass when I specced my car as the tints were standard issue. Worth double checking, i did not want it as from the side view I wanted all the glass the same colour.

Also worth thinking about the space saver spare wheel, if I remember correctly it was only about £130 when specified as an option, I forgot to do this. then when I realised after getting the car ( as the tyre repair kit was not good enough for what i wanted ) I enquired and the after purchase cost even with a discount was due to be more like £500 for the wheel, tyre and jack !! arghhh.

I managed to get a wheel and tyre from ebay for about £110 and then the jack was about £135 from the dealer .

So I took delivery of my car yesterday :)) and spoke to dealer about it. A car group like inchcape list the vehicles spec more accurately. But the car group Sytner just copies it from a standard spec sheet and some items are facial able in other countries only, US perhaps!! So no Lane Departure on Jag in the UK.

But car is amazing and only driven for 2 days but has been breathtaking. I was worried as on the forum I read a lot about roof popping and creaks etc. but I have had none of that been driving with radio off most of the time as I was that worried about it but not a sound or creak anywhere. So far so good. Car is one year old and 9k on clock so looking good. I love it :)

Thanks for that - i will check

I dont like the half tinted- half not look. looks wrong in my opinion

I got the wheel thrown into the deal - that was my final 'flaps and mats' type bargaining chip before shaking on the deal to buy the car.

My current car (volvo) only had the tyreweld stuff - and it didnt do the job when neede, leaving me stranded so i swore then to always spec a spare wheel.
Just got confirmation that glass will be 'green tinted clear' not privacy glass

interesting to note after september the luxury model will get a downgraded stero (down to 250W) and lumbar support will become an optional extra

tbh - i think they are trying to differentiate the luxury from the premium luxury - as other than interior colour choice its hard to justify the extra cost

luxury model had pretty much all i wanted and i tweaked it up a bit with parking pack (front sensors, rear camera), walnut trim and 20" wheels and that gives me all the car i want

Glad you have sorted out what glass you are getting, I have also noticed that the LWB model does not seem to be available on the Luxury model now, I also added the walnut trim, together with the rear camera and front sensors, also the TV tuner and a digital radio, this meant upgrading to the 650 Watt stereo. I must say I have been more than pleased with the results and wonder just how much better the all singing and dancing B&W system is as this system seems really great to me.
I agree that they are probably trying to make more of a difference between the two models.
I look forward to hearing from you on here once you actually get the car.
All the best, Ivor
I think the Lane Departure Warning refers to the "3 flashes of the indicator" function to warn other drivers you are changing lanes. Confusing isn't it, but I can confirm the US cars do not have the vibrating steering wheel, or the message centre warning saying "WAKE UP YOU DOPEY ******" either
