Hey folks new to this side of the forums, Came over here from having an X type that was a bit of a problem, it's all in my sig to save repetition.
But just saying hello and starting the thread that should, this time, be full of happy photos, road trip news, and general Little George stuff.

To kick off here it is. Think when it gets it's personal plate on it it will be named by the wife so it's a him. You'll see in a few weeks.
2009 2.7d Sovereign with almost all the extras. Frost blue (JJZ) with Barley inside (SEL). One previous owner. FSH all done at the same jag dealer 5 by the same guy, and only 79K miles when I picked it up. It's failed one MOT in its life on a wiper blade and never had an advisory. I will keep that record going.

Loving it already had it since Tuesday and already clocked up almost 9 hundred miles and just passed the 80k mark yesterday. I'll calm down soon. Just cant help it. It's the car I've been looking for since I was in my early 20's I've always had a thing for jags of this shape. 40 years waiting.

Gave it a proper valet inside and a right good polishing but haven't got around to photos yet, so dealer ones will have to do for starters.

Hello George: they let me in to the posh side of the forum from the X400 forum after I bribed this chap:
Sleeve Gesture Collar Blazer Beard

He’s there to keep us poors out apparently.
Glad you’re enjoying your new Jag and that you find some similarly semi-deranged company that you had on the X forum 👍

Looks great LG, glad you're happy with it

Sounds like you've got plans to make it better yet, no doubt you'll keep us in the loop.

The plat will be a nice touch too once its one.

Moe pics when you get it sorted (y)

Thanks everyone, I did say to the dealer the photos don't really do it justice, It's absolutely gorgeous in the flesh.
So today. All I really did was measure up the plate, make it up online and order it. I did want to get some tar spots off with the Autoglym today but I'll be bored tomorrow so I'll save that joy.

Looked at the ol plastic today after the change over. Travel, hotel, food, fuel both ways and my new plate I just ordered snatched 600 quid off of my card in the past week. Still its worth it. Been there last June when I bought Bic. Easy to clear in a few weeks.

I'm also going to go on record here in my second post. I'm tied to this one financially for a couple of years so It's in my interest to keep the previous guys attention to it's mechanical needs met. It's going to want for nothing. If I get an advisory on the next MOT I'll be well annoyed.
Only criticism I have. It's got Avon tyres on the back. Would have preferred the Pirelli's like on the front. Won't change them though, they are brand new.
Dash cam most likely while I'm on holiday next week. I'm near a Halfords seen the road angel. I'll let them fit it while I'm having a McD and a walk around town with me dog.

Halfords? Dash cam? Hmmm….. in the X at least it’s pretty straightforward to run cables invisibly around the trim both front and rear: probably the same on the XJ?

Yep there's some LG logic here. I'm off for holiday and where we are going, in town, there just happens to be a Halfords, thought while I'm picking the cam up I can amble around town while they are fitting it, save me messing about when I get home. More toys to play with. She won't let me fit it while we're away and I'll be all impatient. I'm already taking my cleaning kit.
Ohh yeah and remember the car wobbles on the X last summer. I got a 30 quid Halford's voucher. so fitting only works out at a score. Yep can live with that.

Fair enough George: I’m just worried that they’ll just stick the mount on the screen and plug the lead into the [email protected] lighter! Round here at least, Halfords don’t have a good rep for attention to detail! I hope they do a good job for you. I managed to fit mine with minimal visible cable: these are the only bits on show.

edit: doesn’t allow the old slang for a cig: begins with f and ends with g…….

Don't know this Halfords either. My local would be OK but they dont do them.
I'll make sure and make it perfectly clear to them before I go walkabout it gets wired in and not plugged in the ciggy socket. It's getting a proper hook up. If It hasn't when I get back. It will have before I leave. Don't like letting people I dont know at my cars.
Strange the old forum has American word filters. We'll all have to start saying jagwar

Son is house sitting looking after the parrot and emptying my fridge. Tyres at the right pressure, all fluids checked.
This is it. After the long drive back from Kent bringing this home that was fun and driving around building trust in it. This time me and Mrs LG are off on a roadtrip. This is what I wanted the big ol XJ for. The first of many this year.
Yep I picked the right weather. Didn't know that last year, when I booked all this, that it wouldn't be spring like is was meant to be. I'll try to get some photos but odds on the car will be covered in salt so have to forgive that it's going to be, inevitably, a bit grubby.

Sidenote for those who followed the bic thread. She's forgotten about the BMW and the red one now. "Wow this car is so smooth, I can't feel a bump or anything back here, best one yet" Still sits in the back.
