Hey folks new to this side of the forums, Came over here from having an X type that was a bit of a problem, it's all in my sig to save repetition.
But just saying hello and starting the thread that should, this time, be full of happy photos, road trip news, and general Little George stuff.

To kick off here it is. Think when it gets it's personal plate on it it will be named by the wife so it's a him. You'll see in a few weeks.
2009 2.7d Sovereign with almost all the extras. Frost blue (JJZ) with Barley inside (SEL). One previous owner. FSH all done at the same jag dealer 5 by the same guy, and only 79K miles when I picked it up. It's failed one MOT in its life on a wiper blade and numberplate light. I will keep that record going.

Loving it already had it since Tuesday and already clocked up almost 7 hundred miles and just passed the 79k mark yesterday. I'll calm down soon. Just cant help it. It's the car I've been looking for since I was in my early 20's I've always had a thing for jags of this shape. 40 years waiting.

Gave it a proper valet inside and a right good polishing but haven't got around to photos yet, so dealer ones will have to do for starters.

My "old dutch" and I have been through the worst twelve months of our lives, and think we are coming out of it now.
We have been together for more than fifty years (54) and nothing prepares you for the "big C" attacking a loved one.
My role has been primarily to get her to where she needed to be and finding our way through the dreadful buildings to be attended to by the most wonderful people, all of whom have progressed matters hastily and professionally.
The learning curve has been vertical!
The Jag, unfortunately, could not be trusted, so went! Shame!
Bit like "bic".

Have you recently broken a mirror, shot an albatross or run over a black cat?
My personal favourite is ‘must’ve farted in the font when they christened me….’
It’ll all get sorted George, never fear 👍

sorry to hear about the big C, hope that gets sorted in a favourable way.

In other news.
I'll be absent for a while. car to send in tomorrow and a lawyer to find, this is going to be a court case with the DVLA after talking with their robot brained minion. If they lost the paperwork "haven't received" that's not my problem. Once its posted its done.
Besides I'm in a really, seriously bad mood. Not a suitable place for me to be right now. Thats why my car broke, so I couldn't go scrappy hunting tonight. Theres a reason for everything.

Get a few packets of Hamlet, find that stream and take some time out, this roller coaster has started to reach some dizzying heights and needs to have the brakes put on me thinks.

Going to take a wee while, but like everything that is in a bit of a whirl, the law of Ruby says it will all slow down to a nice steady pace and orderly fashion in due course. Maybe step back a bit, LG, take a look from the outside looking in and get a different perspective on everything happening at the moment. It's understandable to be angry, who wouldn't in your shoes, such a heck of a lot going on, but it just makes things so much harder to see clearly and as you know, not a good time to act on or make decisions when feeling that way.

Taking each task in bite size pieces and working your way through, will make things manageable and not odorous or over-face you and each step accomplished will be a great achievement and boost your morale as you move onto the next. Fighting so many battles all at once can be draining and you are already at a low ebb, so softly softly catchy monkey, and over time you will not only build up your health and physical well being, but you will also meet every challenge with gusto as you know you can, overcoming the adversities in front of you.

Chin up matey, you'll get there, I have every faith in you. :giggle:

We share a common asset LG.
If the agro during the day builds, then come sundown, a glass or two (or three) of drinkable red dulls things and by bedtime I am usually mellow.
What we both have, I believe, I use first thing in the morning, after eight or thereabouts - I take a glass of orange out onto our balcony (perhaps behind a glazed door if inclement) and address what is before me to kickstart the day.
"Good morning dog, good morning cat!" deals with our menagerie, both having splendid external accommodation.
I then glance up the North and bid good morning to the mountains.
You also have a splendid vista, which could accompany Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World".
I then acknowledge the land "Good Morning Finca", then the trees en masse and vines similarly.
I get no response from any of these entities, but by acknowledging their presence it boosts my early morning momentum.

rollercoaster continues. Still highly angry, cant calm down. no sleep. Found the scrap guy, well see what happens when i told him hes coming round here pay the fine tomorrow or i report that car stolen as its still in my name. hes still got legs for now. DVLA "lost" my part assholes. so im legally liable for the fine, with all that hassle with bic forgot about not getting a disposal notice on the car.
Got a solicitor on standby when/if this goes to court.

waited for 7 hours for the aa to turn up, they finally sent a van with a small trailer, course that boat i got wasnt going on that, they are coming back tomorrow.

Sorry this threads gone tits up. Thats life in Lennyland its how it usually is, Thats why i chew valium 3 times a day.

Don't worry about being angry, just let it take it's course, fight that one and it won't help, think things through and the mist will gradually start to clear.

Good job on getting the scrap guy out, great first step, I suspect you have already set the scene, so it might be an idea to let him do the talking first, rather than you emptying both barrels at the bloke as soon as he steps foot on your property. Test the water, see how he plays things, it will help you to stay calm and keep a clear head and work out your moves, if you attack him and make threats, most likely he will become defensive and things could turn nasty and the chances of an amicable settlement will be slim.

The best you want from the meeting is he pays all the fine, I feel pretty sure he won't want that, and if you place yourself in his shoes, what would you be prepared to offer or find reasonable as a settlement? It maybe a good idea to have your minimum acceptable offer in mind, I find the best deals come when there is give and take, no one likes to be bullied or pressurised and everyone likes to feel they have one or achieved at least something, like my lovely mum used to say ... it's a bit of give and take.

I'm not trying to tell you how to negotiate things here LG, as I have no doubt that you have more skills in that department than I. However, I am abundantly clear that things are hellish for you right now, and I am fearful for you and this chap in that could get the full force of your pent up frustrations, and that won't do either of you any good, after all, if the DVLA have lost the paper work or it was lost in the post, it's not the scrapy's fault or yours, so does he really deserve getting the full brunt of your vexations .... hmmmm I wonder.

I hope you don't mind me making a few suggestions here, just trying to perhaps give you some ideas to think about and consider, so that while you are having yet another restless night, tomorrow will come a little easier for you.

This doesn't help now, of course, but when selling my last 3 cars, I did everything on-line. So much easier than faffing with forms, the Post Office, etc., etc.

Absolutely, do similar myself and usually always either take a screenshot / pic etc and keep hold of that in my file, just sitting there waiting for any eventualities such as this.

I'm sure you'll get it all sorted LG, its just the pain, hassle and grief you have to go through

All the best

Late seventies I was given a Hillman Hunter by a friend of my Mams. It was a real snorter with five months of MoT left and would not see another one as there was daylight where the inner sills should have been . It ran and drove ok though, so I used it for going to work: two cars then was a luxury: Missis W had the use of the main car! Anyhoo, I scrapped it after taking the radio and battery out to flog. Got 25 quid for it at the scrappy. Did all the correct paperwork and posted it off: pre-online days. Three weeks later: two plod jam sandwiches at the door: the car had been used in a shop robbery. Confusion quickly cleared up but it gave the neighbours summat to talk about! I reckon Scrappy Jack would have had a visit.
Pretty low grade baddies to use a knackered old Hunter as a getaway car…….
Hope you get sorted soon George 👍

Yea verily, PetA.
Five kms to the North of us is the quaint mountain village of Guijo de Santa Bárbara which is at an altitude of about 900 mtrs; we are at 550 mtrs.
Another five kms by foot and you are at over one thousand metres.
After that you are mountaineering to a ridge of over two thousand metres in the Tormantos range, part of the Sierra de Gredos.
We can, without the effort of leaving home, observe this from our balcony.
With a glass of something appropriate I can share the virtual experience.

Thats a cracking view
Shopped around as my insurance is due next week, been doing it for a while, made the decision today. Choker I had 12 years NCB in my campervan, think anyone would take it. Course not, one non native woman said we only take ncb for small cars. (obviously meaning cars not vans) I said but I got an XJ its huge.
Finally got it with the 3 years i earned on a car, 12 years down the swannie, I mean Ill never be driving long enough to get that again.
full comp, curtesy car, 300 excess, with 250 back from go compare. so 50 quid. 427 with protected NCB, no so bad. Expensive month this is.

Way to go LG, things looking not so bad already, delay with the AA truck meant to be, as no gadgy or contractor for you matey, no siree, only a Jag enthusiast to chew that fat over with, and one that will respect your XJ getting it onboard safe and sound.

I have to say I did smile at the cheek of the Scrappy in offering to fiddle the paperwork, I suppose you can't blame him for trying and at least he has been thinking of coming up with a solution, even if it would just have a snowballing effect. I have to say I usually put up a good fight if I know I am right, but if I have weighed everything up and the writing is on the wall, knowing full well the angst will be more destructive to me than settling the matter and being able to forget it and put it behind me, I must admit, I take the path of least resistance ... self preservation and all that.

Okay so disappointing about the new brakes and caliper, but hey, no accident as a result of the issue and the fault has been found, which is great news and no more if, buts and maybes, just get it fixed when you can (y)

As far as your drive goes, it looks tickety-boo to me, and the chances are it looked like that last year, and won't never mind if it looks that way this time next year. ;)

Funny thing is, when I retired, I said to my bestest friend, "right then, we have spent thousands on the 3 properties we have lived in over the years and no more". Okay, it has paid off, but getting my pension and cashing in a others enabled everything to be paid off so it was time to say 'no more money on extensions, garden landscaping etc. etc., time to spend a bit of dosh on ourselves. But you have to laugh really, as we don't do fashion like clothes or accessories, don't go out much, but we do enjoy our cars, me my hobbies and Anita her roll-ups and bit of hooch o_O

One little weakness we both have is that we like a bit of bling, the laugh is though that you can only wear so much of it at once eh?

Sad is better than angry and one step closer to happy ;)

Ooooow what's this?
Ahhhhh ....
all in good time ...

I will not impose on all, the myriad of views from our spot.
However a taster is of a morning where the view to the South, normally unobscured for fifty kms or more including the modern aspect of the twin domes of Almaraz nuclear reactor, which has a spooky low cloud below the height of our house.
