Just wondering if there is a need to lubricate the convertible mechanism/latch, with what and at what schedule. It's working flawlessly but does have 2 distinct noises it makes when opening, one cleaner sound and one a bit more grindy. Don't know if this is normal or not but it did make me wonder about lubricating needs. Thanks for any feedback!

Mine only does it if it has been out long in the sun so I assume it has to do with friction. I used silicone on the rubber seals and CRC 556 on the mechanical stuff. Definitely an improvement but not completely fixed. I think some of the sound comes from "deeper within" and didn't dare use that much 556 in case it messes up the fabric somehow. Also, too much lube would make lots of dirt stick to the seals/mechanism which would probably make it worse after a while so make sure to wipe off any excess lube.

It's not readily available, but we use it in the rail industry in the uk to enable stuff that has massive inertia to move freely, it's basically teflon and some other non colloidal trickery. When i get a chance I'll have a chat to their Uk reps and if they'll let me have a case for resale I'll get one (Im owed a favour or two). Usually get mine for free at trade only shows.
