Hi

I have a suspicion for faulty MAF (mass airflow sensor).
i am experiencing poor mpg and i found simple test on youtube: in you unplug good MAF on idling car engine should die instantly.
My is carry on running. Is it working like that or it is applying just on some types of engines?
Thanks for help

To know for certain do you have a local Jag indie at hand. If they plug there software in hey an tell you if the MAF is faulty, have you tried cleaning it with MAF cleaner?

It will still run on default settings with the maf disconnected but you should detect a change in engine note when connecting and disconnecting.
Clean it with a spray cleaner but do not touch the wire and also check all the pins are connecting and clean.

I had a big drop in MPG and suspected the MAF at fault, got a new genuine one from Catherine Street motors for £36 with delivery and the MPG shot up to over 51, which was nice.
