I still can't get the mongoose cable to connect, have tried on both v130 & v138 on fresh windows 7 installs. I think its the mongoose drivers which are fault, i downloaded the latest drivers from the drew technologies website and still no luck. Any ideas please guys? I'm now installing v138 on a virtual xp pro machine to see if that will work.

I think you need xp pro with service pack 2 or 3 for v130 or a vm in windows 7, I tried 138 but it kept coming up with errors, when you installed the driver did you go to device manager to find the cable, install driver and then plug cable in then restart, when connected the green light flashes once a second

Windows 7 Pro 32-bit works fine with 130... just a clean install, no internet, and work through installing the various elements of IDS/SDD. That's what I use.

If you PM your email address, I'll email the drivers that worked for me.

I sent you the dropbox link in a PM earlier. Didn't send it via email as I had already sent you the dropbox link. Just click on that and it should allow you to download the .msi file

Mongoose cable arrived today.

Previously had v130 booting up to where it looked for cable, on an old laptop running XP.

Now with v130 JLR SDD is hanging after entering the same User ID and Password that worked previously. Date is set to 08/08/12.

This is the text that is in the address box ? while the system hangs after entering the User ID and Password http://localhost:8080/user/user/request_login.action?offlineLogin=true

Any pointers ?

Anyone running with v145, which came with the cable, is it virus free, Will it work on XP ?

Answering my own post here !

Realised I had changed the date to 08/08/2012. Discovered it needs to be the date of installation of JLR s/ware which I set to 08/08/2005.

Changed this back and it worked fine. Until the "VIN Entry" then wouldn't read this automatically or by manual entry of VIN no. with the cable plugged in, (both ends !) In bottom right corner it stated "The VCM (cable) is disconnected," although the lights were flashing away

When I first connected the cable to the XP laptop it reported that something was out of date and tried to download a file, but the connection was turned off.

Any pointers anyone ??

Still won't connect to car, installed v130 on fresh install of xp pro sp3 and mongoose stays red, have tried original driver, Marks driver had to install driver manually as once mongoose was plugged in it wouldn't auto load the driver. Date was set as 08/08/12 throughout complete installation, just have message in bottom right of SDD screnn saying "the VCM is disconnected". Have tried with engine running, position 2 without engine running and still won't connect. Running on xppro sp3 in a virtual box machine, i get the 2 beeps to say xp jhas found the mongoose cable and thats it.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, first... you don't need the mongoose to be connected to your car to see it's working, so you can troubleshoot from indoors.

so if your laptop beeps when the mongoose is plugged in it is detecting it. Check device manager from the control panel to see if it exists as a device. if there is an unknown device then click on its drivers tab and browse to the driver files and try to force it to load the driver.

once detected, even without ids running, it should pop up and say mongoose is detected when you plug it in.

Its the blue mongoose cable, so I assume it's the pro cable. I can only find the one driver. Do you have a link for both of the drivers so I can try them both?

Thanks Mark, that didn't work either. Installed driver then plugged mongoose in, computer found mogoose and installed the drivers but the mngoose is still showing up as red on the actual lead it self, is this right or should it be green. (not connected to the car by the way). On the computer i have to greyed out images and a red image in top right of screen which says activation required whjen i hover over it. The mongoose cable i have worked in the past on my old S-Type. Im starting to lose my will to live now and may have to bite the bullet and pay the dealer to reprogramme my replacement drivers door module.

There should be a constant led and a blinking led visible through the cable grip in the mongoose. Sounds like you might have a problem with the mongoose cable. Is there anyone near to you with a working ids/SDD system you can try it with?

did you see the mongoose showing up as a device in the device manager?

Yes, it shows up in Device Manager, ihave a constant red LED showing on the head of the lead itself and thats it.

Ok well can only go from my own experience, but when connected to the laptop and without SDD running, the mongoose is blinking like a Christmas tree.

If yours is just static red then that suggests something isn't right with the mongoose itself. Can anyone else out there confirm the behaviour?

the mongoose has never been connected to the laptop whilst it's been connected to the internet has it?

This is what i have in device manager

Sorry, it was just showing that it does show in device manager.

I'm installing it on windows 7 ultimate 32bit, or should it only be the home premium or pro versions it works on?

'Can confirm it doesn't work on 7 home premium. IIRC it does on Professional and Ultimate 32bit
