Motorola G7 Plus phone -- Bluetooth pairing problem?

I've just changed my phone from a Motorola G4 to a G7 Plus. Unfortunately it refuses to pair with the system in the X-type (and for that matter in the XK as well). Both Jaguars ask for the passcode, which is entered, but the process stops there. The display says 'Phone connected' but there's no network or signal-strength indication. Calls can't be made from either the phone or the car and there's no request for the directory.

I've raised the issue on the Lenovo/Motorola forum and it seems several G7 Plus owners are having the same experience with other vehicles. Has anyone on here had this problem with a G7 Plus and/or found a fix for it?

That is true (Bluetooth 5.0, 4.0 and 3.0). From a technical perspective, there are essentially three different types of devices: “Classic” Bluetooth, Blue- tooth dual-mode and Bluetooth single-mode. The G4 uses version 4.1 while the G7 uses 4.2. If you were able to successfully pair and connect the G4 previously then I suggest you somehow delete the G4 pairing completely from the X-Type Infotainment System (not sure exactly what that entails). Do this while the Bluetooth setting is turned off on the G7 then afterwards restart the X-Type and turn on the Infotainment System to allow it to cycle (a minute or two should be enough). Then turn off both the Infotainment System (1st) and X-Type (2nd). Again allow for recycling. Next, turn on the Bluetooth on the G7 and start the X-Type and then turn on the Infotainment System to begin the Pairing process on both the G7 and Infotainment System. I'm just speculating here that its still paired (logically) with the G4. Good

Very many thanks. I'll have a play along those lines tomorrow. For the record the G7 Plus uses version 5.0 whereas the other members of the G7 family use 4.2 but I don't think the differences are relevant in this context.

Let us know how things turn out and by the way its easier to just to keep the new G7 powered off until you've completed the cycle I laid out.
