Multiple faults?

Just curious really.....

Had a look at a high mileage XJ 4.2 sport today, 155k with jag history up to last service which was independant. It was quite tired, lot of corrosion on bootlid £ paint missing between doors, but nothing i couldn't fix if price was right as it was black on black with sat nav and that V8 :)
The car had the Air suspension fault light on, presuming it needs a compressor..... This didn't worry me too much as i know its common.

However the following light etc were on; DSC light with DSC not available on speedo, ABS light. Could these be connected?

Also, engine management light was on and the speedo wasn't working?

I discounted the car due to the amounts of faults, but on way home started wondering if it could be all related to a bad battery or connection?

It's a 2003 car, which was very cheap at £3200, i'm wondering how much to fix things & if its worth a lowball offer, it's at a VW dealer who has told me basically if i'm not interested its going to auction. Anyone know what sort of money they fetch at auction?

It does sound like all the faults could be connected. DSC and ABS both need wheel speeds to work and I believe the speedo works on the wheel speed sensors too on the XJ. So it could simply be a couple of duff sensors. Did it have sat nav? If so you could go into the diag screen which shows the wheel speed sensors and see if they show anything on the move.

Of course it could also be a multitude of other things causing each fault individually and a complete money pit...

It won't sell for much as it is - not many are going to take a risk on a high mileage petrol jag with the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree!
I had DSC not available and ABS fault recently. It turned out to be a front wheel sensor. It's a quick and easy fix.
The suspension could also be a failed air spring or the compressor.
Flat batteries do throw up a lot of spurious faults on the X350's though.
When I first checked my car, they're were about a million random fault codes recorded.

Having cleared them, none have recurred.

I put it down to the car standing around for three months before I bought it & the battery getting low.
