My 2013 XJL Portfolio Arrived.

Well I finally got the car today, very late home as the dealer thought I was picking it up tomorrow ☹.
I had to wait for it to get back from the valet/detailer. Must say it was worth the 5 hour delay, however I did miss the Mercedes, the distronic cruise control is one of the best on the market.
That said I'm very happy with the Jag, it does feel quite firm over a roads but nice and smooth on the motorway.
I guess the sporty 20" and low profile tyres has a price over comfort, however the drivers seat is certainly better than the Mercedes (in my opinion).
Mrs Boz found the Jag very (nice) although not overjoyed, it's just a big car to Mrs Boz, she likes the colour though 👍
Now that I have managed to get it into the garage I have several jobs to do before I can play with the Jag.
Namely converting the son a horsebox into a pizza stall/mobile (I know 😂 but that's what he wants)
Mrs B has several jobs in the garden, it's a small price to pay, so update sometime soon.
I will get some pictures if I can manage to post them, I have just sold a couple of my classic cars, 1967 Wolseley 6/110, and a 1978 Mg Midget, along with a 1954 Ferguson T20.
If anyone is interested in the Wolseley 6/110 I have posted a rebuild blog on YouTube, the link is here.

Enjoy, Boz.

Dealer pictures will do as a placeholder until you get your camera out!

Dealer didn't get chance to advertise it, I bought it as soon as it came into stock.

How did you know it was in stock? Did they have you on speed dial?

(Genuinely interested, not facetious)

Happy days Boz, all sorted at last, got to get some time behind the wheel and get acquainted properly.

Looking forward to seeing / hearing more as you go.

No doubt you'll post a pic or two when you can.

Cheers
Jim

Glad you are pleased with it. Was you comparing to an S Class? I think the XJ is a better car to drive, but the S Class a better place to be a passenger, not withstanding that the standard seats fitted to the S Class are sub par for the car type, IMHO.

E300 diesel hybrid, I guess it's what you get used to driving. Don't get me wrong I'm not really comparing the two, only what I miss from the Mercedes.
The distronic is really habit forming as it brakes right down to a stop and then moves off again without input from the driver.
I am very happy with the Jag, it will just take a little time to adjust.

Well boys and girls, I had a little spare time today so I removed the number plates and replaced them with my own number that I had on retention.
I just have to wait for the V5 to arrive back from DVLA, then I can do the change, I'm not using the car just yet so it can sit in the garage for now.
I am looking forward to a drive out in the car but am just too busy at the moment, after 45 years driving tankers around Europe and the UK retirement is not driving.

Retired yes, very busy yes, I have all sorts of jobs around the estate grounds, gates fences planting etc etc, work also needs doing in the East wing, Mrs B is quite persistent.
I have just driven it back from the dealers and shoved it in the garage out of the way for now.
I would rather wait until everything is ship shape and stowed away then I can concentrate on the car. By then the V5 will hopefully be back.

You can legally drive (on the old plates) with the new keeper suplement. But I'm sure you know that.

We had to discharge the butler so we could keep the housekeeper and cook😉The ctec charger is connected the comfort leads on the battery in the boot, positive terminal and chassis for negative, I'm unsure what mode it should be on! So left it on car, my car has stop start so does it need to go on the other mode AGM? It's working its way up the scale and currently on light 4
I also noticed a smaller battery alongside the main battery.

That was a thing in the earlier stop/ start cars. It is just something else to be aware of when (not "if") the electrical gremlins strike.
Electrical gremlins! Have I made a mistake buying this car?
I am getting slightly put off the car before I have even started to use it.
At nearly 70 years old I really don't want car troubles.
