The car is now with nearly 9500miles and I still can't find the words describing how pleased I am with XF, especially with the AJ20P engine. It is just so smooth and responsive at the same time. After lifting the plastic engine cover was surprised to see the moulded sound insulating "carpet" on the top of it and how much effort Jaguar has put in silencing the engine noise. That's not something I was expecting to see at all. Well done Jaguar, German big brands have something to learn from you.

With the Summer finally coming (sort of) fitting new shades seamed to me like a next reasonable investment in my XF.
Have to say that I'm quite pleased with the quality and fitment of both, side and rear window nets, and while it keeps the sunlight out of the car and makes the rear a bit darkened it provides good visibility from the car.

Next mod will be fitting front and rear mud "splash" guards since all the dirt coming from the rear wheels swirls straight onto the lens of reversing camera.

Goodyear Ultragrip Performance + Winter tyres were fitted yesterday as prep for our ski trip this Winter and the ride was instantly transformed to smoother and more pleasant one. The tyres got good reviews on tyre review site and with the Costco offer of £80 off for a set of 4 the whole excercise came close to £440. I thought it was a good deal for a set of premium 18" tyres to be missed. Have to say that I was extremely pleased with the tyre fitting from Costco fitter who was very considerate in handling with tools and alloy wheels not to leave a mark on them. They will get all my future tyre purchases for sure.

Was planning to keep old Summer Assy 3, with more than 5mm tread on the fronts and over 3mm on rears, but after having a close inspection of the treads noticed that all 4 have cracking on the entire circumference of the treads. As all 4 are J rated, factory fitted tyres with 3418 date stamps was a bit concerned and amazed in seeing such cracking after only 3 years. I've seen that kind of cracks before but on tyres which were 6+ years old.
All 4 have this type of cracks in the same tread area👇🏼

After contacting Goodyear UK asking them should I continue using these tyres was advised to send all 4 to the Jag dealer that sold me the car and they should raise the complain with Goodyear and send tyres for inspection, as they are still covered with 5 year tyre warranty. What will be the outcome of all this I'll have to wait and see.

Drove her today for Christmas hols to a beautiful Scotland and with every trip the car is just getting better and better. Brimmed the tank in North London with Shell finest and had to stop at Perth Shell station to fill her up again with V-Power. We were getting into Highlands from there and I didn't want to get caught somewhere high up with no petrol in a tank. 37.2mpg on M and A roads (took M11, A1, M8,Queensferry bridge - Wow that's a beauty, A90 to ski route) for a car of that size and carrying 4 of us and a dog with 2 duffel bags and a suitcase is not a bad fuel economy at all.
Here she is (one of the relief and dog walk stops)

She is now all dirty, salty and muddy as the weather turn to worse on bens and we arrived late at night at 5.30pm, I couldn't believe it gets that dark so early here, so next "dirty" photo will be taken in the morning. Don't know when it will be daylight here 🤣

Very nice car JD and welcome to Scotland on your hols

It does get darker quicker here and DARKER generally for longer, the upside is brighter and lighter later and for longer in the summer months

Yesterday when we arrived she looked much dirtier than she is now. Freezing rain over night must have washed off some salt. 👏🏻

She's did some miles and "enjoying" some Scottish weather, although its uncannily mild, almost spring like for the time of year.

Where are you at JD?

Trust me it's not Spring here. Currently stuck in our cottage as the uphill driveway is covered in black ice and I wouldn't dare driving down the hill. We barely walked to the local shop how slippery it is now.

Thanks, I'll be happy to keep the snow here too. It was very murky today and making a decent photo was tricky.

Nice one, although I think the other one's slightly better, shows the lines of the lights, catches the eye

I was behind one just yesterday as it happens, ( not for long though, as they were faffing about a bit )

Fist year of ownership is near to its end and all I can say is that I REALLY love driving this car, so much that I'm constantly making up some reasons for going somewhere. It's a stunning car, smooth, silent and so responsive.
Yesterday Jag got it's annual service with new air filter, cabin filter, oil filter and oil plus new sparkplugs and wash and for Sunday she's booked for tyre fitting service. Looking forward to it.

Nice one JD

Give her some love, she'll appreciate it and reward you with solid, steady service no doubt

Expensive month though eh?

I've always thought that Jaguars are too expensive to own and maintain and for that reason never regarded it as a car brand for me. After 20 years of Mercs, Audis and Volvos I think it will prove to be the cheapest one actually. Annual servicing at the dealer is the cheapest of the bunch (compared like to like) and I just hope the car wont bring any nasty surprises. With good budgeting and planning it's not that expensive as it looks.

You'll be fine I'm sure JD

Look after her, and she'll look after you, keeping on top of preventative maintenance and doing what you can yourself, lessens the burden
