Winter wheels fitted just on time few days ago. Phew. Our road never see gritters so if it continues to snow like this all night it will be interesting morning tomorrow.
First snow this Winter and wiper park activation. Will have to wait and see how fast those will get free of ice.

Wow looky-looky, coming down pretty heavy and settling too by the piccy, always an exciting feel to it when the snow starts to fall but mixed with a little trepidation too of course.

I hope you don't find things are terrible in the morning, snow is so beautiful and creates fantastic scenes of course, especially when freshly laid, crisp, clean and white, but best kept on a Christmas card when it comes to travelling around in it me thinks.

In my books snow can only be beautiful and would swap any Summer sandy beach for snow covered peaks. Here we are proper Yetis 👣

Is there a known hack how to disable auto folding of door mirrors?
Looked everywhere in Menu settings but couldn’t find the option to disengage auto fold.
Nothing mentioned in user manual too, only this info

I think it might be possible to stop them opening on unlock by doing something like...

When in the car close the mirrors manually using the drivers door buttons. When you come to unlock the next time the mirrors will remain retracted until you manually open them again using the door controls.

Sure I've seen it mentioned but never tried it.

Tried it, it doesn’t work.
Manualy closed them with the buttons, left the car, locked, they remained folded.
Manualy closed->opened, left the car, locked and they folded again.
Can’t believe JLR didn’t make an option to leave mirrors unfolded 🤦🏼‍♂️

This is in the handbook for the 2018MY...

If the mirrors are folded in before the vehicle is locked, the mirrors do not unfold when the vehicle is unlocked. This is to protect the mirrors from clashing with any objects close to the vehicle when the automatic unfold occurs. To unfold the mirrors, press both mirror buttons as shown in 3.

Well it works as I expected... ie. The mirrors do not auto unfold the next time the vehicle is unlocked. Sure, it's not a permanent disable of the function. If you need the function disabling permanently then I guess you need to pop along to your friendly neighborhood JLR dealer.

I guess for the majority of people, an option to permanently disable auto fold would very rarely be used.
🤷‍♂️

Yes it does that, but I want the opposite, to leave them unfolded

According to Americans it has to be done by a dealer and auto fold can only be either On or Off. Can imagine the pain of Canadians waiting for Spring to unfold their door mirrors.
Yep, it is a dealer option to turn off.

My mirrors were frozen up a few days ago. A quick spray of de-icer and they were fine.

Who was it that assisted with the feature enables? I'd like to pick up my own pathfinder but most options seem absurdly expensive, Would be happy to exchange some beer tokens to borrow access to one :)

Further to that, how do you find the lane keep assist? Is it relatively self driving (One on my civic holds dead center of the lane, very relaxing) or does it ping-pong you off the lane lines?

So far I haven’t found LKA too intrusive and would give me a slight nudge when approaching the line on either side. It is not self driving, at least I haven’t tried it as such. PM sent

Just got reminded about something I wanted to share and look for an advise.
In September I’ve changed my Jag blades and fitted Bosch Aerotwins. All was good until our trip in December. When driving at speeds above 100mph, Aerotwin blades make a horrible noise like running a sandpaper over the windscreen. Unbearable noise.
What other good quality option except pricey Jaguar ones are there?

Ian D warned me about this when I bought new Bosch blades a month or so ago. I didn't fit them, took them back. Will be fitting original Jag bladed when the time comes. Maybe more expensive but they're not something you need to buy too often.

I have had Bosch for years on my Mercs and have been really pleased with them, clean action, no smears, grinding or squeaks.

I only recently bought Aerotwins for my lot, as yet to be fitted at their next service, but as I don't tend to exceed the maximum designated speed limits deliberately, even on a motorway where I guess 90% of the time I pop it in cruise control at 70mph, with the rest very rarely going over 80 and usually being a quick blast to get out of trouble/put a smile on my face, or I think the last time was so as not to be late for the Crewe Hall meet

All this is said not to show what an angel or wuss I am depending on how you look at things, but rather that from personal experience I can't help but on the other hand, from what you have said, I do think you might have answered you own question.

If you are prepared to take the risk of driving over a ton, then my advice would be to splash the cash and get the best wipers that are more likely stay still on the windscreen or glide across it in a smooth quiet action and if these are the Jaguar ones at a premium cost then so be it ... as in my book, you, your ladies and your big cat are well, well worth it I would say ;)
