Who can decode for me my vin SAJJGAED4AR011931 ?
I tried all the websites that i found but they say bullshits...
I would need to know engine type and ecc......
Most of websites recognize my car like a 2010 XJ 3.5 one LOL
Thanks in advance !

Do you think there is a way to estabilish the production month and year ?
Many spares are little different depending on also month of production in first series xk8...

The production month/ yr should be available whenever you quote the production number from the end of VIN.
Can you double check your full VIN number both on the inside of the windscreen and on the VIN sticker BOTH match and confirm they are both as you have shown in your original post and I will make a few enquiries to see if any more info can be found.

Its impossible that on car are written different VIN numbers as on documents, now you make me have a doubt... if is different i must go to police because if they stop me they arrest me.
But is impossible...

It could have been innocently written on the documents incorrectly which is why I asked you to supply the vin numbers from 2 places on the car.I dont want to try chasing the car info if the documented VIN has a mistake.

Of course i perfectly understand you.
Now I have not the car with me, but I will check asap.
I hope is not a document mistake because I could have many problems for that reason... Let's hope... Now I have doubt... :-(((

Hi all i crosschecked the VIN and is correct... pfff... i was scared all day long.
Anyway i solved my issue, my friend Oliver from Britishparts found my request on the forum and sent me email with all data that i could need, what i miss is just the production date but that's hard to find i guess.
The "A" is special char to optional equipments.
Thanks everybody for help and nice evening !!!

Hi, More Vin Number bemusement. I'm looking at purchasing a 2002 XK8 convertible and the vin No. reads as follows----- SAJAC42M42NA. This information has been sent to me by the seller on an email. From what you've posted this doesn't make any sense unless they changed the codes or my seller has misread the VIN. Any help would be appreciated.

The VIN is too short,it should be 17 digits

Thanks for the replies. The seller won't initially give me the full VIN No. (Conspiracy theories abound). However from what he has given me and from research it would appear that the vehicle is a jaguar, built in the UK and is a 2+2 Convertible. I think he may have to give me a little more information to conclude the deal;). Hence the question does anyone know how an XK8 2002 4.2l Vin Numbers decode?

if you write it on google there are many, something works on english jags, on italian no way.
But anyway you can write to jaguar the vin and in one day they give you all the informations about, if in italy they do it in one day in uk they do it in one hour LOL

I take it its one of the last of the 4.0 S/C cars rather than the start of the 4.2 ones as the Vin decoding is slightly different between them
Based on the 4.0 engine

SAJ = Jaguar
A= Rest Of World (meaning not USA/Canada/Japan/Mexico)
C= Aotuomatic RHD
42= X100 2 Dr Convertible
8th digit = engine and emissions (Euro stage emissions but can only find up to J)
2 = 2002 Model year
N = Browns Lane AJ27
Digits 12-17 is the production serial number...yours is Axxxxx
